PS5 Pro Coming This Year, Could Be $600; PlayStation Showcase in September - Report

As a long-time gamer and Sony enthusiast who has witnessed the evolution of PlayStation consoles since the ’90s, I find myself brimming with excitement at the prospect of a new PS5 Pro. If Jeff Grubb’s reports are accurate, it seems that Sony is following their tried-and-true formula: release a mid-generation upgrade.

This year, Sony is expected to debut and launch the PlayStation 5 Pro, as suggested by gaming journalist Jeff Grubb from Giant Bomb, a subsidiary of TopMob. A potential announcement for this new device could be made during an upcoming State of Play broadcast in September.

On Game Mess Mornings, I shared my thoughts about the rumored PS5 Pro, which seemed to be an insider secret at Gamescom. I mentioned that the latest whispers suggest this upgraded console is still slated for release this year. Additionally, I hinted at a possible State of Play event by the end of September.

According to Grubb, there’s some uncertainty about whether the rumored PS5 Pro will be unveiled at the upcoming event, but he suggests it could indeed happen. If released, the system might hit stores as early as October or November, Grubb speculates, and he predicts its price could range from $600 to possibly even $700.

It’s been speculated that there might be an update for the mid-generation Xbox Series X, but details are scarce at the moment. However, Microsoft is indeed releasing new hardware in October, specifically a $600 Xbox Series X model featuring a 2TB hard drive and a cosmic design inspired by the universe.

As a devoted gaming enthusiast, if the PS5 Pro were indeed a reality, it would indicate Sony sticking to their tried-and-true formula. Reminiscent of the PlayStation 4 Pro, released by them in November 2016, such an upgrade has been a pattern for Sony. Intriguingly, TopMob has reached out to PlayStation for more information on this matter, so stay tuned with us at TopMob for any updates!
