Prologue: Go Back’s First Trailer Pits Man Versus Dangerously Cold Weather

2017 saw me, as Brendan “PlayerUnknown” Greene, carve my niche within the battle royale realm with PUBG: Battlegrounds. Fast forward to this year, I’m back with a new challenge, Prologue: Go Wayback. Unlike my previous games, players in this title won’t be facing off against traditional enemies that can be shot down or killed. Instead, the real threat lies in the merciless cold and the unforgiving wilderness of the woods, as demonstrated in the trailer below. In Prologue, survival isn’t just about outlasting other players; it’s about surviving the elements themselves.

In the game Prologue, the maps span over 64 square kilometers and are dynamically created, offering countless unique arrangements. The objective is to survive long enough to find a weather station that appears randomly in each map. To achieve this, players must search for resources, equipment, food, and water. They will also need to find shelter to shield themselves from the harsh environment and avoid an early death. The cold is your main enemy, and it can claim your life in several ways. For instance, slipping on slippery ice could lead to a fatal accident. Moreover, venturing out during a blizzard could be disastrous.

In harsh weather conditions, Prologue empowers players with necessary tools to predict sudden drops in temperature or immediate need for shelter. Players can also repair found items and use temporary shelters like cabins. However, staying put isn’t a sustainable plan; rescue can only occur at the weather station.

As a dedicated gamer, I’ve been excitedly following PlayerUnknown Productions’ roadmap for their gaming universe. They’ve mentioned that Prologue is just one piece of a three-game plan, with Project Artemis being the next game on the horizon. Recently, the publishers of PUBG, Krafton, and Nvidia have revealed plans to develop AI-enhanced teammates for PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, making the gameplay experience more lifelike than ever. On top of that, Krafton is also working on a brand new spin-off called PUBG: Blindspot, marking the first departure from the PUBG Mobile universe in the series.

Early access for Prologue: Go Wayback will begin this summer on Steam.
