Producer Jonathan Saba Acquires Film Rights to NBA Betting Exposé ‘Gaming The Game’ (EXCLUSIVE)

As a seasoned cinephile with a penchant for unraveling complex narratives and a soft spot for gritty underdog stories, I find myself intrigued by Jonathan Saba‘s latest venture. The acquisition of adaptive rights to Sean Patrick Griffin’s “Gaming the Game” is a tantalizing prospect, promising an exploration into the murky world of sports betting.

Film producer Jonathan Saba, known for “Butcher’s Crossing” and “Jay and Silent Bob Reboot,” has obtained the rights to adapt Sean Patrick Griffin’s book “Gaming The Game: The Story of the NBA Betting Scandal and the Gambler Who Made It Happen.” Saba will be working on this project alongside a script penned by Marc-Edouard Leon.

Based on an official summary, the sports betting documentary titled “Exposé” delves into the captivating universe of sports betting, seen through the perspective of Jimmy ‘The Sheep’ Battista. This man, along with a diverse group from working-class Delaware County, Pennsylvania, was part of one of the most reputable betting syndicates to emerge in the early ’90s: The Animals.

A shocking discovery – that a referee was wagering on his own matches – sent ripples through the professional sports world. But, as Saba points out, this tale runs far deeper; what you believe to be the truth is merely the start of it all,” (for the first part)

Presently, Saba holds the position of Chief Content Officer at Saban Films, a distribution company based in Los Angeles. Additionally, he has produced films such as “Knox Goes Away,” “The 4:30 Movie,” “Fatman,” “Cult Killer,” and “Paradise City.

As a passionate cinephile, I’ve had the privilege to function as the executive producer for “Lioness,” Taylor Sheridan’s gripping war-time drama series on Paramount+. This captivating show features an illustrious ensemble cast including Zoe Saladana, Nicole Kidman, and Morgan Freeman.

The handling of the negotiations was entrusted to Saba, along with lawyers Vince Ravine and Judith Karfiol. On the other hand, Leon is represented in these matters by Ian McKnight, who works for Anonymous Content.
