Principal Criticized for Tracking Student’s Bathroom Break and Soda Run in Lengthy Email

The school principal is facing criticism on social media, following the disclosure that a parent’s son received an extended email inquiry as to why he needed to use the restroom at school.

On TikTok under the username ‘cassdamm’, Cass has gained attention yet again, with almost half a million users questioning the conduct of a school principal following one of her posts.

Cass’s 15-year-old child received an email detailing a series of events from the school principal, as they had monitored his activities outside of classroom hours. The student was said to have requested a pass for the restroom initially, but upon doing so, he was observed on surveillance footage heading upstairs to buy a canned drink from a vending machine instead. After this purchase, he returned to class.

The series of occurrences was thoroughly examined by the head of the school, a fact that took his mother by surprise. She turned to TikTok to share her thoughts on the issue and has since received significant backing from others.

Student comes into question for grabbing a soda

Cass shared that she has a 15-year-old son, and today, his principal sent her an extensive email with five paragraphs. The email contained complaints about something that her son had done, along with nine attached photos for reference.

In each of the nine photos, there were timestamps showing his activities. After getting a pass to leave math class, he headed to the restroom, as verified by photographs. Later, he bought a drink from a vending machine and went back to class. This was all captured on camera.

The main idea behind her actions was that his behavior was “so egregious, she felt compelled to write several paragraphs and include numerous screenshots showing him engaged in such acts.

The mother expressed her bewilderment,” she explained, wondering about the reason for monitoring her son so closely in the first place. Upon examining the time stamps, it appeared that he left and returned to class within a mere six-minute span.

What made you look at the cameras to check if my son indeed visited the restroom? I assure you, he wasn’t engaged in any inappropriate activities.

As it happens, Cass’s child is said to suffer from anxiety, and they possess a 504 plan that has been approved by school authorities. This allows them certain concessions, such as the ability to exit a classroom whenever they feel the necessity.

He purchased a soda to help with his anxiety, as caffeine tends to ease it. Regularly, he feels anxious during his math class while trying to catch up, as she added.

Initially, the original TikTok post garnered close to a million impressions. Approximately 4,000 viewers expressed their opinions, with several of them voicing their approval and backing a mother and her son.

One viewer quipped, “Isn’t today a quiet day at the office?” Another commented, “I bet it took them more time to create this than it did for your child to fetch a drink and return to school.

In the meantime, some people were wondering why this apparently harmless act stirred such a commotion from the principal, while more substantial issues sometimes go unnoticed.

One person questioned, “Where does that energy usually show up? When a child is being tormented.” Another expressed similar thoughts, “Where are all the recording devices when children are being subjected to bullying?
