Prime Video’s New Spider-Man Series Will Officially Make History With Rare Rating For The Marvel Superhero

2026 is making history for Spider-Man as the web-slinger gets ready for a new adaptation.

I’m so excited for the Spider-Noir series! I just saw a new preview and found out it’s been rated TV-14. It’s going to star Nicolas Cage as Ben Reilly, and I can’t wait to see it! You can check out the preview below.

The Spider-Noir TV show is the most adult-oriented Spider-Man series ever made, even grimmer than the Spider-Man movies. Its TV-14 rating means Prime Video is letting viewers know the show includes content the FCC defines as inappropriate for children under 14.

I’m really excited about this new Luke Cage series! The fact that Steve Lightfoot, who did such a great job with The Punisher, is co-showrunning gives me a lot of hope they’ll really nail the darker side of the Marvel universe. Oren Uziel is also creating the show, and with Phil Lord and Chris Miller executive producing, it sounds like it’s in really capable hands. They clearly know how to handle these kinds of stories.

Spider-Noir marks the first time this classic Marvel character has appeared in a modern live-action TV series. Sony Pictures, which usually features the superhero in movies, produced the show. Whether or not it gets a second season will depend on how many people watch it and what critics and viewers think.

Fans can look forward to a lot of Spider-Man content in the coming year, including both movies and TV series. In 2026, Spider-Noir will debut just two months before Tom Holland’s Spider-Man: Brand New Day hits cinemas. While both feature Spider-Man, the movie and the Spider-Noir show will have different styles and feels.

If the TV-14 rating for Spider-Noir proves successful, it might allow future live-action Spider-Man series to explore darker, more mature themes. Given the vast number of characters within the Spider-Verse, the possibilities are limitless.

Spider-Noir will debut on MGM+ in the US on May 25th. All eight episodes will then become available on Prime Video in other countries on May 27th.
