Hannah Blyth, who leads TV production for Amazon Prime Video in the U.K., emphasized her aim for a diverse and balanced selection of content during her talk at Mip London on Wednesday.
In addition to titles like “Clarkson’s Farm” and “Reacher,” which tend to attract male audiences, Blyth mentioned that Amazon Prime Video has also acquired shows catering to female and younger demographics. One example is “Molly-Mae,” a docu-series focusing on a popular British social influencer.
In a discussion titled “Streamers’ Preferences: An Overview,” Blyth delved into the topic of trends in acquisition and licensing within the streaming industry, accompanied by Kai Finke, SkyShowtime’s Chief Content Officer. This engaging conversation was skillfully moderated by Jack Davison, 3Vision’s Executive Vice President.
Instead of focusing on expanding its offerings, Finke mentioned that SkyShowtime, which is active in 22 European countries, aims to “leverage our strengths.” Some of their strongest content includes the thriller “The Day of the Jackal” and the sci-fi series “Halo,” as well as movies from co-owners Paramount Global and Comcast, such as Universal’s “Wicked” and Paramount’s “Gladiator II.”
