Predator: Badlands may have just proved a big Prey & Alien theory right

The initial preview for Predator: Badlands hints strongly at a connection with the corporation Weyland-Yutani, famously associated with the Alien series, and this suggestion could potentially validate one of the most widely held Predator: Prey theories.

As a devoted fan, let me share my excitement for Badlands – a Predator movie unlike any we’ve encountered before! Directed by the talented Dan Trachtenberg, who masterfully crafted Prey in 2022, this film offers a unique twist: the Yautja takes center stage as our hero. Can’t wait to see how this story unfolds from their perspective!

As a gamer, I’m all hyped up about this upcoming movie! It’s set in some far-off future on a distant planet, where I find myself as an outcast Predator. In this alien world, I stumble upon Thia, played by the talented Elle Fanning, who becomes my unexpected partner. Together, we embark on a perilous quest to track down the ultimate foe. Sounds like one thrilling adventure, doesn’t it?

Fanning’s character has sparked quite a bit of curiosity: she seems to be a robot created by the Weyland Corporation, and her presence might hint at the possibility of Alien vs Predator 3.

The Prey theory that connects Predator: Badlands to Alien

In the game Prey, a skilled French trapper named Naru teaches another character (the name isn’t specified) how to handle a firearm. This weapon has an engraving that reads “Raphael Adolini 1715.

In Predator 2, Danny Glover’s character, Lieutenant Harrigan, received the same flintlock pistol he was given as a prize for vanquishing one of the predators in the throne room scene. Interestingly, this room contained a Xenomorph skull, which served as a hint that eventually led to the creation of the Alien vs Predator film in 2004.

In other words, if we envision the throne room as the blueprint for the progression of the Predator series, including a potential reboot of the Alien vs. Predator saga, each installment could delve into the story of how a Yautja warrior obtained a skull or artifact. Eventually, this would lead to another epic confrontation between these two titanic characters.

In the trailer for Badlands, there’s a quick scene showing various skulls, one of which resembles either the aliens from War of the Worlds or Independence Day. Given that Independence Day is owned by 20th Century Studios, who also hold rights to Alien and Predator, it seems plausible that this is the source of the skull.

Previously, during an interview with TopMob, Trachtenberg was somewhat tight-lipped regarding the throne room theory. He merely responded, “Ah yes, items from the throne room… that’s intriguing.

Three years back, the director hinted that another Alien vs Predator movie was likely to be produced in the distant future. Recently, director Fede Álvarez proposed the idea of jointly directing an AvP film with Trachtenberg.

In this case, if it happens, whoever wins, we win.
