When PowerWash Simulator was launched in 2022, it might have simply been another mundane chore game. However, the creators, FuturLab, imbued PowerWash Simulator with a unique mythology and a narrative that unfolds as sci-fi elements within the game. Later this year, FuturLab will once again transport players to Muckingham in PowerWash Simulator 2. In the initial sneak peek below, players will catch a glimpse of some advanced cleaning gear referred to as “soap-tacular equipment”, which they’ll be able to utilize to finally restore cleanliness to this exceptionally filthy town.
In the trailer for the game’s sequel, we catch a glimpse of the gnomes from the original version. Although FuturLab hasn’t explicitly stated a continuation of the intricate plot, they have hinted at a fresh campaign that lets players delve deeper into the enigmas of Muckingham. Additionally, PowerWash Simulator 2 is set to introduce new settings such as Sponge Valley, Power Falls, and Lubri City.
Users will gain access to stronger cleaning equipment, and a cooperative campaign mode could speed up the game’s cleaning tasks further. Multiplayer functionality is available, including the choice for simultaneous split-screen play. Interestingly, one of the new features enables players to design and personalize their own homes with various items of furniture and decor. According to FuturLab, users can invite their power washing friends over to visit their customized dwellings, but this feature is not yet visible in the trailer.
Previously this year, FuturLab stopped providing updates for the VR version of PowerWash Simulator, but managed to prevent layoffs by redirecting their team towards different tasks. The standard PowerWash Simulator featured Tomb Raider add-ons and a collaboration with Square Enix on Final Fantasy 7. As of now, there’s no news about whether the potential sequel, PowerWash Simulator 2, will involve crossover events like these.
In April, FuturLab plans to reveal additional updates concerning PowerWash Simulator 2. Presently, you can add this game to your wish list on Steam, with its release scheduled for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and personal computers in the last quarter of 2025.
