Approximately ten years have passed since the modern reboot of the initial Postal game in Postal Redux. Now, it’s time for the 2003 version of Postal 2 to receive a similar upgrade, with Postal 2 Redux promising a comprehensive overhaul of the original game.
The game Postal 2 Redux is being developed by Flat2VR Studios, Team Beef, and Running With Scissors, and they plan to launch a Kickstarter campaign this summer. As announced, the revamped version of the game started as an effort to convert Postal 2 into Virtual Reality. The original resources will be rebuilt in Unity, offering improved graphics, new weapons, more realistic physics, and enough Easter eggs to fill Uncle Dave’s Compound to the brim.
In brief, the upcoming sneak peek for Portal 2 Redux doesn’t reveal much, but it promises exciting new features such as petting Champ the dog, enhanced dynamic lighting, improved crowd behavior, completely destructible environments, and a vast open world that allows seamless exploration without any interruptions from loading screens.
As an eager admirer, I’m thrilled to share that the creators have revealed their intentions to release Postal 2 Redux on PC, macOS, Linux systems, PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox Series X|S, and potentially Nintendo Switch 1 or 2. However, it’s important to note that the exact list of platforms might still be under negotiation. The final decision could hinge on the stretch goals we manage to achieve through our Kickstarter campaign, as well as the approval from the respective console manufacturers.
At present, you can find the preliminary page for the Kickstarter launch of Postal 2 Redux, but the campaign hasn’t set a definite start date as of now. As for whether Postal 3 might get a remake too, there’s no information available at this time. Given the negative reception Postal 3 received from fans in 2011, Running With Scissors later deemed it non-canonical. The latest addition to the series was Postal 4: No Regerts, which was met with unfavorable reviews when it came out in 2022.
