If you find that Project Zomboid: Build 42 isn’t too difficult for you anymore, I suggest trying out the fan-made mod called Bandit Creator. This creation by Slayer, who has contributed several projects including Week One, is an enhancement of the original Bandits mod. With it, you can completely tailor your in-game opponents to your liking.

According to the Steam workshop description, it seems that the Bandit Creator mod offers more than just customizing the bandits’ appearance (like outfits or skin tone). It also lets you alter their statistics, strengths, and even control aspects of their AI behavior. This means you can fine-tune their abilities, such as improving their ability to track us, for instance.

Just as you design your own character with special skills, you can also give three distinct talents to each adversary in the game. The tool, Bandit Creator, provides various character templates for you. Here are a few examples:

1. Agile Thief – Stealthy and nimble, this character excels at sneaking around undetected and disarming traps.
2. Brute Force Warrior – A powerful fighter who deals massive damage but struggles with agility.
3. Cunning Strategist – A mastermind who specializes in complex strategies and has the ability to manipulate the battlefield.
4. Mystic Healer – Skilled in healing and supportive magic, this character can keep allies alive during intense battles.
5. Ranged Sniper – An expert marksman with a high accuracy rate from afar, making them a formidable opponent at a distance.

  1. Breaker – quickly destroys barricades / doors, carries extra tools;
  2. Electrician – sabotages generators and electrical devices, carries tools;
  3. Cook – steals or sabotages crops, carries food;
  4. Infected – can bite the player like a zombie, with the same consequences;
  5. Mechanic – sabotages cars and steals fuel, carries tools and gas canisters;
  6. Recon – moves faster than others.

Additionally, Slayer disclosed other character types to be presented later on. For example, there’s the stealthy assassin who moves silently and goes unnoticed. Notably, this assassin is capable of delivering a deadly strike with just one thrust.

The creator emphasizes that the Bandit Creator mod works specifically with Build 42 at the moment, but a version for Build 41 is being prepared and will become available shortly.
