In the fourth season of “The Righteous Gemstones,” Pontius Gemstone is showing a rebellious side, and his feud with Gideon highlights how he seems to have disregarded Eli Gemstone’s storyline from the first season. This current season is giving more attention to the younger members of the Gemstone family than ever before, with Jesse Gemstone’s children playing crucial roles in one of the season’s key plotlines. Reminiscent of Gideon’s actions during “The Righteous Gemstones” season 1, Pontius is causing discord within the Gemstone clan.
The fourth season of “The Righteous Gemstones” is here, marking the approaching finale for Danny McBride’s HBO series. Over the course of the last four seasons in “The Righteous Gemstones,” fresh additions have been made to the Gemstone clan, while some characters have aged. Among these characters, Pontius Gemstone has undergone the most transformation, and Gideon is determined to reverse this change in him.

He Shouldn’t Be Surprised By Gideon’s Skateboarding
In the fourth season, Pontius finds himself frequently at odds with Gideon, and it appears that he has overlooked Gideon’s past exploits in “The Righteous Gemstones” Season 1. During episode 7 of this season, their confrontation takes place at a skate park. Pontius tries to belittle Gideon, but his brother demonstrates his impressive skateboarding abilities, leaving everyone else impressed. This display leaves many of their friends in awe, and Pontius is left stunned by the talents he never knew Gideon possessed.
It shouldn’t come as a surprise to Pontius that Gideon exhibits impressive skateboarding skills. In fact, prior to reappearing in season 4 of “The Righteous Gemstones,” Gideon resided in Hollywood where he worked as a stuntman in films. Throughout the series, we’ve witnessed his athletic and driving talents, so it’s not out of character for him to be an expert skateboarder.
Why Pontius Has Been So Mean To Gideon In The Righteous Gemstones Season 4
He Is Rejecting The Gemstones In Full
In the fourth season of The Righteous Gemstones, Pontius is receiving a larger share of screen time than ever before, yet his behavior has become increasingly harsh. He continually demeans Gideon and shows disregard for Gemstone Ministries. Despite Gideon’s efforts to curb Pontius’ aggressive tendencies, there hasn’t been much progress in this regard.
It seems plausible that the manner in which Pontius treats Gideon may reflect his overall opinion of the Gemstone family. The controversies surrounding Jesse and other family members have resulted in unfavorable publicity, prompting Pontius to possibly distance himself from them. However, it’s evident that Pontius has gone too far in this attempt at separation, as he excessively echoes Gideon’s prodigal son narrative in “The Righteous Gemstones” season 4.
