Police Uncover $330K Stolen Pokemon Card Collection

Law enforcement officials in the United Kingdom apprehended an individual following the discovery of a hidden cache of expensive Pokémon cards, worth more than three hundred thousand dollars.

Over time, collecting Pokémon cards has turned out to be quite profitable, with certain rare cards and initial boxes fetching astronomical prices at auctions! (I can’t get enough of it!)

Lately, I’ve noticed a flood of illegal activities related to Pokémon, from brawls erupting in stores during exclusive launches, collectors getting mugged for their rare items, all the way up to high-speed car chases over swiped card packs. It’s becoming quite a dangerous scene for us passionate gamers.

On May 14, a raid by the Greater Manchester Police at a residence in Hyde led to the discovery of a vast hoard of stolen credit cards. The value of this collection was estimated to be in the hundreds of thousands.

Police raid uncovers over $300,000 in stolen Pokemon cards

According to the BBC, one man was arrested after his house was raided by the authorities.

Upon entering, they discovered an enormous assortment of Pokémon trading cards, enclosed in protective sleeves, appraised at approximately $330,000.

The cards had price tags on them as high as £560, around $740 USD.

Currently, efforts are underway to get the cards back to their original possessors. At the same time, officials have humorously commented on the matter through Facebook, using the phrase “Gotta catch ‘Em All” in a post about the operation.

The photographs of confiscated card packs reveal a multitude of boxes and one box overflowing, crammed with cards securely encased in plastic.

It’s unclear whether these items were taken from a store, an individual, or various people at different times. No additional details have been disclosed regarding the person who was apprehended.

Despite this recent treasure trove being significant, it pales in comparison to the legendary Pokemon card heist of 2022. In that event, a 62-year-old’s priceless collection worth half a million dollars was stolen from his expansive 6,800-square-foot waterfront residence.
