Okay, so this is wild. I just read that a police officer in the UK got fired because she was basically faking being busy! Apparently, she was putting a picture frame on top of her laptop keys to look like she was typing, so her supervisor would think she was working. Can you believe that? It actually worked for a while, but they found out eventually. Seriously, the lengths people will go to…
With more people working from home lately, some employees have been finding ways to appear busy even when they aren’t. These often involve minor things, like extending a lunch break or quickly stepping out for a doctor’s appointment.
So, I heard about this police officer with the Avon and Somerset force – she actually got fired on February 25th. Apparently, there was a hearing about some misconduct at their headquarters, and it didn’t go well for her.
The investigation began when Avon and Somerset Police noticed Sergeant X, who has since been dismissed, had an unusually high number of computer keystrokes in 2024.

Fired officer had many more keystrokes than colleagues
According to the police department, evidence shows Sergeant X consistently placed a weight on her keyboard during most of her shifts in April and May of 2025.
PS X explained what she did, admitting she’d propped up her laptop keys with a corner of a picture frame to prevent the screen from going dark. She did this so she could keep an eye on calls on another screen while dealing with personal difficulties.
A police officer with Avon and Somerset Police has been fired for pretending to be working. She used a picture frame to hold down the keys on her laptop to give the impression she was typing. A disciplinary hearing was held on Wednesday, February 25th.

Larisa Hunt, who leads the Professional Standards Department at Avon and Somerset Police, described the behavior as “very disappointing” and warned it could damage the public’s trust in the police.
Okay, so you won’t believe this, but I just read about someone getting fired for being early to work! Apparently, this happened in Spain back in December. It’s definitely one of the weirdest job loss stories I’ve heard lately, and honestly, there’s been a lot of those going around!
In China, government employees were caught using facial recognition technology to scan their colleagues’ faces, allowing them to falsely clock in for work. This led to public anger and demands for their dismissal while authorities investigated the situation.
