New bodycam video shows actor Alan Ritchson explaining his side of a recent altercation with a neighbor in Tennessee, claiming the neighbor, Ronnie Taylor, appeared to be intoxicated during the incident.
A video of the fight initially shared online appeared to show Ritchson hitting Taylor while Taylor was on the ground. But a longer video from Ritchson’s body camera revealed what actually happened: Taylor started the fight by pushing Ritchson off his motorcycle.
Taylor, a British citizen living in Tennessee, said he started the altercation but decided not to pursue legal action against Ritchson. He explained he doesn’t want to deal with the hassle of court and didn’t even hire a lawyer about it.
So, the police had bodycam footage of them talking to me, and it turns out I told them everything about the fight right away. I also mentioned that the other guy, Taylor, seemed pretty drunk at the time.
Alan Ritchson alleged that Ronnie Taylor was drunk during their viral fight
A YouTube video from the Law&Crime Network shows Alan Ritchson speaking with police officers the day after the incident happened.
It’s understandable that the actor, known for his role as Reacher, didn’t want to talk to the police without a lawyer, given how public and potentially risky his life is. He did eventually speak with them, explaining that the other person involved, Taylor, appeared intoxicated when he shared the complete bodycam recording of the incident with the officers.
The actor requested a toxicology report, stating the person smelled of alcohol. He wanted to determine if alcohol played a role in the situation, saying, “Let’s get a toxicology report done on him. Could he have been drunk? Would that explain anything?”
The officer explained that they don’t perform toxicology tests for public intoxication cases, but Taylor was receiving medical attention because he was injured during the fight.
The video showed Taylor telling police he’d had a drink at home while watching a soccer game. He said he wanted to press charges against Ritchson, claiming Ritchson had seriously assaulted him.

Ritchson also wondered what he should do with the video of the fight, which clearly showed Taylor as the one who started it.
I know this looks bad, but I was acting in self-defense. He’ll probably say something different, but he’s not telling the truth – he claims I hit him while we were on bikes. I believe he started the problem. I’m not sure what I should do next – should I wait to see what happens, or should I contact my lawyer to protect myself?
The officer told him to send the video to the detectives so they could review what happened from all angles. Later, the Brentwood police determined Ritchson acted in self-defense and closed the case.
Besides letting fans know about his busy week and that he’s completed filming for Season 4 of Reacher, Ritchson hasn’t publicly talked about the disagreement online.
Cat Ritchson, wife of the actor, playfully wondered on Instagram if she’d missed anything during her time away from social media. Her husband responded with a cryptic comment, “Who’s gonna tell her…?” However, he hasn’t spoken publicly about what happened.
