Streamer Pokimane disclosed that she contemplated stopping streaming because of the harassment, but felt compelled to continue in order to repay her parents for bringing her up.
Imane ‘Pokimane’ Anys is recognized as one of the internet’s leading female gamers with a massive following on Twitch, and her influence extends to numerous other social media platforms, attracting millions of fans worldwide.
It seems that online popularity isn’t as glamorous as it appears, as anyone can attest who has faced harassment throughout their career like the entertainer Anys has over the past decade. This ranges from seemingly insignificant actions such as streaming without makeup, to more contentious issues such as pricing her personal snack brand quite high.
Recently, Anys finds herself in a heated debate again, primarily due to remarks she made regarding affluent individuals. Some critics perceived these statements as inconsistent or hypocritical, considering her own financial standing.

Pokimane says she kept streaming through harassment to “repay” her parents
In a conversation with Rolling Stone, Pokimane opened up about managing the intense online hostility as a popular internet personality, revealing one factor that keeps her going amidst the temptation to quit.
Although it may seem unusual, I found myself compelled to conquer those challenging phases, given that I had specific financial aspirations – such as providing for my parents who have made sacrifices and repaying them, or striving to accomplish something.” (She said this to the media outlet.)
“It seemed as though, indeed, this could be difficult, but what other path is there for me?”
Additionally, during recent times, particularly the last two years, I’ve found myself thinking, “This is simply overwhelming for a single mind and heart. Perhaps I need to withdraw temporarily.

Although she faces relentless criticism from some viewers, she’s equally appreciative of her numerous supporters and peer content creators who offer encouragement during these particularly challenging periods.
She shared with Rolling Stone, “At times, I felt overwhelmed, yet the encouragement from my online community and those closest to me made me believe that I could conquer this challenge.
On the 23rd of April, she started a live Mukbang broadcast. During this event, she emotionally expressed her surprise at receiving numerous kind messages from viewers, despite some critics claiming that she wasn’t behaving appropriately for her age.
Occasionally, there are instances where kind-hearted individuals come to my aid. It’s astonishing and heartwarming. I feel touched when I witness others supporting me who I didn’t anticipate, particularly fellow streamers, she shared.
