Known Twitch personality Pokimane voiced her struggles related to producing content in Los Angeles, expressing disappointment following an unsatisfactory live-streamed shopping event.
In one of her Sweet n Sour podcast episodes featuring LilyPichu, Pokimane shared a disappointing story about collaborating with Wisdom Kaye on a shopping live stream, causing her to ponder about her long-term plans in that particular city.
The popular Twitch personality expressed eagerness to team up with Kaye, referring to him as “an outstanding creator of short-form content” and “valuable freight” that she was eager to collaborate on.
She made extraordinary efforts to guarantee the stream’s prosperity, by bringing in private security, a driver, and a film crew. Regrettably, technical glitches and unforeseen obstacles from designer stores disrupted her arrangements.

She clarified that we were scheduled to visit three stores on that particular day. Unfortunately, two of those appointments got canceled at the very last moment. One cancellation was due to a company-wide decision, while the other happened because a group of rappers, including Playboi Carti, unexpectedly showed up at the store, causing it to prioritize them and close for their visit instead.
Pokimane’s group attempted to change direction by checking out other nearby businesses, but encountered opposition instead. She characterized this ordeal as a nightmarish whirlwind of red tape and repeated rejections.
You walk three feet into the shop carrying a camera, and suddenly people are questioning you. “Are you authorized to record here?” and “Do you have the necessary permit?” she inquired. Although you tried explaining that it wasn’t for commercial purposes, the answers remained unfavorable.

One notable instance involved a store manager who displayed unusually harsh behavior. He would speak in an underhanded manner that sounded more like shouting. The tone was both unfriendly and insincere, resembling the affected demeanor often seen in Los Angeles, yet maintaining this peculiar blend of unpleasantness, artificiality, and oddity all at once.
The young woman, aged 28, remarked with admiration, “It’s nearly astonishing how you managed to hit all those notes.” She added that she found it noteworthy because they had previously ignored her team’s emails and only provided a new contact after initially refusing them access.
Pokimane shared that LA seemed unsuitable for her content production anymore, stating, “I felt as though I had exhausted all the content in LA; it’s time for me to move on.” She voiced her discontent with the city’s restrictive filming environment.
Previously, Pokimane has expressed her dissatisfactions about Los Angeles. As far back as 2020, the streaming personality confided that she often felt out of place in the city and revealed a stronger affinity for Canada, where she might feel more comfortable.
