Pokemon’s most brutal challenge ever created has finally been beaten

Following over a year filled with unsuccessful attempts, disappointments, and countless restarts, the Pokemon Super Kaizo Ironmon Challenge has finally been conquered.

An intense adaptation of the original Nuzlocke system, Super Kaizo Ironmon takes the rules for Pokemon FireRed to their toughest levels. This infamous difficulty level was originally conceived by Twitch streamer and Ironmon creator iateyourpie on March 18, 2024, with the aim of testing even the most experienced players to the utmost.

Instead of the usual multi-Pokemon gameplay, Super Kaizo Ironmon imposes a single Pokemon rule, prohibits healing during battles, disallows stat-enhancing moves, and introduces randomized opponents with more intelligent AI and strategically placed items. This mode is intentionally tough, and until now, it has been considered unbeatable by players.

Hardest ever Pokemon challenge beaten

On June 27, 2025, streamer Reimi triumphantly completed a full run of Super Kaizo Ironmon after his 8,502nd attempt. His win concluded a grueling 15-month period during which countless gamers attempted and ultimately fell short at overcoming this merciless challenge.

According to GamesRadar’s report, it’s estimated that more than 100,000 attempts were made by trainers before achieving a successful run in the Pokemon game. This is primarily due to trainers frequently failing early on in the game, either losing because their pocket monster was hit by unfortunate critical hits or encountering gym leaders with particularly tough luck-based RNG (Random Number Generation).

As a gamer, I rode on the back of my powerful Crobat, Heskey, during Reimi’s run. This beast outlasted the Elite Four and defeated our long-standing rival, leaving everyone stunned! The stream of our Pokémon challenge instantly blew up in the Ironmon community, earning me praise and disbelief from fellow players alike.

With an honest grin on his face after winning, the streamer exclaimed, “I truly believed we’d keep playing this game for a long time.” And what do you know? It was a Blitzle (Crobat)! We’re right back where we started!
