Pokemon TCG Pocket’s newest competitor is set to ignite an old rivalry

The Pokémon TCG Pocket is gearing up for some challenging times, as a longstanding competitor is about to enter the free-to-play mobile card game scene.

As a devoted fan, I can’t help but rave about Pokemon TCG Pocket – one of the hottest mobile card games out there! In its inaugural month alone, it managed to rake in nearly 150 million U.S. dollars, a testament to its immense popularity. Ever since then, this captivating card-collecting game has continued to thrive, consistently expanding with new sets, fostering trade among players, and organizing events that keep us engaged and coming back for more.

The eagerly awaited ranked play mode is currently being developed, allowing deck collectors to eventually challenge each other with their top decks. Although these new features have been added, TCG Pocket will soon face stiff competition from a longstanding adversary.

TCG Pocket has a new rival

On March 16th, the Digimon Trading Card Game X official account hinted at a fresh game Digimon Alysion, an engaging online card game available for free download on both iOS and Android devices.

Though there’s no announced release date yet for the new card game, the trailer offers a sneak peek of the fierce battles ahead. Similar to TCG Pocket, Digimon Alysion lets players gather their preferred beasts and construct decks from them. Additionally, we caught a glimpse of some characters who will appear in the game – Kanata Hondo, Futre, and Valner Dragnogh.

Beyond what’s already been mentioned, the mobile version of this game will introduce fresh Digimon such as the mini, fluffy creature, Gemmon. Familiar faces like Agumon and Gabumon will still be around too, ensuring a mix of classic and contemporary decks for creation.

The closed beta version of this project will be made available at a future time, and based on the feedback from the community so far, it seems that people are really looking forward to it, with many expressing their eagerness to participate. One enthusiastic supporter even exclaimed, “I can hardly contain my excitement!” on the Digimon subreddit page.

As a dedicated gamer, I’ve been immersed in the world of Pokémon Trading Card Game (TCG) Pocket, and my mind keeps wandering to dreams of Digimon taking its place. If they manage to create a similar experience with Digimon, I know I’ll be overjoyed!

Some people are optimistic that the new game will feature a classic-style battle system, which could make it distinct from the streamlined combat of TCG Pocket.

One commenter expressed that they hope it’s not like the Pokemon Trading Card Game (TCG) Pocket, which doesn’t truly simulate the real-life card game. Instead, Pocket is mostly a digital collecting simulation and can become quite dull after just a few days. The gameplay barely resembles the actual game.

Time will reveal if Digimon Alysion possesses the necessary qualities to carve a niche next to its long-standing competitor, or if it may ultimately fade into irrelevance.
