As a veteran Pokémon Trainer with years of battling under my belt, I can confidently say that the current online meta of Mewtwo ex and Pikachu ex decks has become monotonous, to say the least. However, the emergence of an anti-meta Wigglytuff ex and Weezing-themed deck has breathed a fresh, sleepy air into the competitive scene.
As a devoted Pokémon TCG enthusiast, I’ve been finding that the online battles have been mainly ruled by Mewtwo ex and Pikachu ex decks. However, I recently stumbled upon an off-meta Wigglytuff ex deck that leaves both these powerhouses in the dust!
In essence, both the Mewtwo ex and Pikachu ex decks share a common trait: they can defeat most opponents’ Pokémon with a single blow. This strength lies in the stage one cards they possess, which have the ability to swiftly eliminate the opponent’s active Pokémon in just one hit, making them incredibly powerful.
Luckily, the deck themed around Wigglytuff and Weezing is rapidly showing its strength as an effective strategy against the game’s present metagame.
How to play Wigglytuff ex deck
As a gamer, I’ve found that Wigglytuff, despite not being able to withstand Mewtwo ex’s Psydrive hit, offers an intriguing advantage: it can put Mewtwo ex to sleep and inflict 80 points of damage. When paired with Weezing’s Gas Leak ability, this becomes a potent strategy. With Gas Leak in play, you can poison your active Pokemon, making the opponent’s turn a challenging one.
Additionally, Weezing exerts significant stress on Ralts, preventing it from maturing into Gardevoir. As a result, this hinders your adversary from exploiting the energy production through its Psy Shadow capability.
In an optimal scenario, you’d preferably want to make your opponent’s Mewtwo ex or Pikachu ex ill by applying Weezing’s poison effect (10 damage each turn), strike it with Tackle for 30 damage, and finally return Weezing to your hand using Koga’s ability.
After applying the poison, you can now replace Wigglytuff ex and start causing your opponent’s Pokemon to fall asleep. They’ll have to toss a coin every time they attempt an attack, and will also sustain ongoing poison damage.
We recommend using Giovanni to also give your Wigglytuff ex an added 10 damage bonus to its Sleep Song, bringing the total damage to 90.
Using this potent mix of a knockout-inducing substance and sleep aid, you can establish situations where an opponent is knocked out with just two hits, resulting in numerous victories.
