As a seasoned Pokemon Trainer with years of experience under my belt, I find myself both intrigued and exasperated by the current Lapras ex Drop Event. The thrill of battling against formidable decks is always exhilarating, but the elusive nature of this rare card has turned the game into a frustrating treasure hunt.
The ongoing drop event for the Pokémon Trading Card Game (TCG) featuring the Pocket Lapras card is in full swing, yet many fans of the game are finding it challenging to obtain its scarcest version.
Lapras ex Drop Event sees players face off against the incredibly strong water-themed deck, featuring Starmie ex and the stronger ‘ex’ version of Lapras from the Genetic Apex set in Pokemon Pocket.
Should players manage to defeat this specific deck setup, they’ll have an opportunity to claim a special Promo Pack A series 1. Unlike the standard Genetic Apex Packs, this Promo Pack A series 1 contains only five unique Pokemon, and the rarest of these is Lapras.
In contrast to the standard packs that offer five cards per draw, players in this game are limited to just a single card pull from each drop. This significantly increases the challenge of obtaining the sought-after Lapras EX card, as you might expect.
One unfortunate gamer casually mentioned, ‘I hadn’t realized Butterfree was an alternative for these packs.’ They believed they were simply overlooking the chance for a Lapras EX… so far, they’ve only found eight Pikachu, nine Clefairy, and five Mankey.
I HAVE SO MANY BUTTERFREE

It’s advisable to farm (or repeatedly battle) Lapras from the Drop Event on Expert level, as defeating the AI at this difficulty offers the highest probability of receiving Pack drops. However, keep in mind that even if you successfully farm the Expert level, there’s no absolute assurance that you’ll get Lapras ex. This is due to the event being tied to a stamina meter, which dwindles with each win.
Alternatively, players may find themselves in a situation where they either must wait several days for full recovery or employ Event Timekeepers to reset the timer. Despite opening numerous packs, many gamers are still awaiting the rare Lapras EX card.
One user expressed frustration, saying ‘I’ve opened 28 packs, and this isn’t about not having enough packs.’ Translated, he means, ‘Man, I laughed out loud. Same here, 28 packs and no Lapras, but hey, I got 9 Butterfree.’
Some players have humorously caught a Lapras ex, yet they haven’t been successful in obtaining the usual drops.
It looks like you’re scoring a Butterfree, right? Honestly, I can’t help but feel frustrated because I didn’t realize that would be the final promotion I needed. I had heard that the Lapras was going to be the ultimate prize for this collection, but it seems that’s not the case.
