As a seasoned gamer with a heart full of nostalgia for the good old Pokemon days, I must confess that I was initially overwhelmed when I first encountered the dizzying array of currencies in Pokemon TCG Pocket. It felt like a whole new language to learn! But fear not, fellow travelers, for I have braved the stormy seas of this currency-laden island and returned with valuable insights to share.
In the world of the Pokémon Trading Card Game (TCG), you’ll encounter various types of in-game currency. Here’s an overview of each one:
Due to its abundance of full-art and scarce cards to accumulate, along with numerous enjoyable features, the Pokemon TCG Pocket game has rapidly gained immense popularity. However, as you advance in the game, you might find yourself swamped by the excessive quantity of in-game currency it offers.
As an enthusiast, I firmly believe in understanding the intricacies of these digital currencies to avoid any unintentional blunders that might negatively impact my account.
Here’s a breakdown of all the in-game currencies, along with their uses and methods for acquisition, as detailed below:
All Pokemon TCG Pocket currencies explained
At present, the game features 11 unique currencies, each serving a distinct function. A few of these currencies enable you to buy accessories from the store, while others facilitate the acquisition of additional cards over time.
Poke Gold
In simpler terms, Poke Gold serves as the in-game currency that allows you to purchase cosmetics, shop bundles, and Hourglasses among other items. This currency can be bought using real money or earned as a reward for leveling up, although the amount you receive for leveling up is less than what you’d get from purchasing it directly.
Pack Hourglass
As a passionate collector, I find the Pack Hourglass to be an indispensable resource that expedites my stamina recovery, allowing me to dive into more booster packs at a faster pace. Earning this valuable item involves progressing through levels and accomplishing missions, but you can also grab it from the shop if time is of the essence.
Wonder Hourglass
The Wonder Hourglass functions quite like the Pack Hourglass, but instead of hastening the opening of additional booster packs, the earned currency is utilized for the Wonder Pick option. This feature allows you to obtain a card randomly from another player’s collection. You can earn Wonder Hourglasses by progressing through levels and completing missions.
Shop Ticket
In our store, we use Shop Tickets as the payment method for a variety of goods, which can include accessories, promotional cards, Wonder Hourglasses, and other items.
Players can earn Shop Tickets by completing Pokedex missions, participating in events, obtaining and registering cards, clearing Solo battles, and even saying thanks to the user whom you chose to Wonder Pick.
Special Shop Ticket
The Special Store Voucher operates quite similarly to a regular Shop Ticket, but it offers an additional feature: you can use it to buy exclusive cosmetics from the shop. You can earn this currency by recycling duplicate cards of various rarities – common, uncommon, and rare ones, as well as gold crown cards.
Premium Ticket
With a Premium Ticket, you can swap it for promotional cards and an array of cosmetic items available in the shop. To get your hands on this currency, you must be a subscriber to the Premium Pass, as it’s one of the rewards from the Premium Missions.
Pack Points
The Pack Points currency is used to craft your own cards. This currency is really important as it allows you to get the card you want in a guaranteed way to build your deck, instead of having to rely on opening booster packs. You can get Pack Points by opening booster packs, each of them giving you five.
Emblem Ticket
Hey there, fellow gamer! You know what’s cool? Those Emblem Tickets I’m talking about. They let you buy all sorts of themed emblems that you can flaunt on your gaming profile and make other players green with envy. The best part? You earn these tickets by conquering Themed collections and Dex missions in the game itself!
Event Shop Ticket
In simpler terms, the Event Shop Ticket serves as a virtual currency within the game. Players can utilize this currency to obtain unique items and visual enhancements (cosmetics) that are tied to special events.
As a gamer, I’ve noticed that this item is usually only obtainable during special events, mainly by finishing the assigned missions within those events. Yet, it doesn’t exclude the chance of finding it in Wonder Pick events as extra rewards.
Shinedust
Additionally, we have Shinedust, which functions as a type of currency used to add Flairs to your Pokemon card collection. These Flairs do not alter the statistics of the cards, but rather give them distinctive visual elements instead.
Acquiring Shinedust is quite simple, primarily because it comes from opening duplicates of your cards. Additionally, you can earn them by finishing missions and achieving accomplishments.
Advance Ticket
Currently, the Advance Ticket isn’t usable, unlike other currencies, and it remains unclear what its purpose is. It might be introduced in a future update that was previously mentioned. Players logging in from October 30, 2024, to January 30, 2025, will receive this as a free reward.
