The complimentary update for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet on Nintendo Switch has been released early. The 4.0.0 patch, now active, prepares these games to run smoothly on the forthcoming Nintendo Switch 2.
According to information provided on Nintendo’s official website, the recent update enhances both visuals and performance when playing games on the Nintendo Switch 2. The visuals have been specifically tailored for the Nintendo Switch 2 screen, while the frame rate has been boosted to ensure smoother gameplay on the Nintendo Switch 2. In the time leading to the release of Switch 2, Nintendo has been giving sneak peeks into the updates for Scarlet and Violet. Last week, they revealed a couple of images highlighting the games’ enhanced draw distance. A more recent video, released through the Nintendo Today app, offers a clearer view of the improved frame rate and smoother gameplay in these titles.
Other games from the Switch 1 library are planned to receive free updates on the upcoming Switch 2. For instance, Super Mario Odyssey and Clubhouse Games will incorporate compatibility with Switch 2’s GameShare feature, while titles like The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom will experience enhanced performance on the latest system.
The upcoming Pokémon game, Pokémon Legends: Z-A, is set to debut on October 16th. This game can be played on both the Switch 1 and Switch 2 consoles, with the latter version offering enhanced graphics and performance. Before that, a fresh Pokémon Presents livestream is scheduled for July 22nd.
