Back in 2022, I got my hands on Pokemon Scarlet and Violet for Switch, an exciting addition to the series with grand ambitions. However, it wasn’t without its share of technical hiccups that left many players, including myself, a bit disappointed. But here’s some fantastic news! The game is set to receive a free upgrade on Switch 2, and from the sneak peeks we’ve seen in new gameplay footage, it appears that the overall gaming experience will be significantly improved.
Initially, a solitary screenshot was shared on the Nintendo blog, and they hinted at players being able to spot Pokemon from greater distances. So, I can’t wait to dive back into this wonderful world of Pokemon with smoother gameplay!
Fresh game footage, shared on the Nintendo Today app by Wario64, revealed several intriguing aspects: a bustling Paldean region overworld, a rapid frame rate, and vibrant Terastallization in Pikachu. While it appears the game is running at or near 60 frames per second (fps), Nintendo has yet to officially disclose the exact fps the game can achieve. On their Switch 2 upgrades webpage, they hint that visuals have been fine-tuned for the Switch 2 and frame rate enhancements have been made.
Another point to consider is that we’re unsure if the game performs well during intense action or exploration scenes, which might cause a drop in performance. However, the preview doesn’t fully represent the entire game, and it does seem promising. Let’s hope this upgrade allows Pokemon Scarlet and Violet to truly shine. Despite its technical issues, it’s an impressive mainline Pokemon game with engaging gameplay mechanics, expansive areas to discover, and a surprisingly emotional storyline.
Enthusiasts of Pokémon can anticipate the release of Pokémon Legends: Z-A towards the end of this year. Just before the upcoming Pokémon Presents livestream on July 22, The Pokémon Company has announced that the game will be available for Nintendo Switch and its successor, Nintendo Switch 2, on October 16.
