Pokemon Pop-Tarts scalped for 10x price after chaotic Target launch

After returning as a limited-time Target exclusive to celebrate Pokémon’s 30th anniversary, Pokémon Pop-Tarts are now being resold online for much higher prices than what stores originally charged.

These special Pop-Tarts are part of a larger Pokemon collection now available at Target. The collaboration features over 100 items, including clothing, accessories, home decor, food, and collectible toys.

Pop-Tarts were a big hit, especially since they hadn’t been sold for about 25 years. Target started offering the Pokemon Frosted Vanilla Cupcake flavor in stores on May 2nd and online on May 3rd.

Pokemon Pop-Tarts hit eBay after Target launch

Target sells the snack for $2.89, but screenshots from eBay show people reselling boxes for significantly more money almost as soon as it became available.

Recent sales on May 2nd show the limited-edition Pokemon Pop-Tarts from Target selling for between $20 and $25, with some buyers also paying for shipping. One box sold for $15, but with an $8 shipping cost.

Some people are paying five to ten times the normal store price for a box of toaster pastries, with the final cost also depending on shipping fees.

Did anyone manage to snag anything from the Target and Pokémon collaboration release today? It seems like items are selling out quickly, and some people are reselling them for higher prices. #target #pokemon

The push to resell the Pokemon x Pop-Tarts collection is happening after fans shared videos of the launch at Target, showing big crowds quickly grabbing items. While reselling usually happens with Pokemon trading cards and collectibles, these Pop-Tarts are now caught up in the same kind of frenzy.

Most people online have reacted with disbelief, and a popular post on social media highlighted several Pop-Tarts being resold on eBay at inflated prices, with the caption “Scalping Pop Tarts.”

This Pop-Tarts release is particularly exciting because the original Pokemon Pop-Tarts are already a beloved treat for many fans. The originals came out around the time of Pokemon 2000 and Pokemon 3, meaning this new version at Target marks the first major reappearance of the snack in about 25 years.

Target is releasing its new Pokémon collection in stages. The first items became available in stores on May 2nd and online on May 3rd, and another set of products will be released on June 6th.
