Recently released official art strongly suggests a significant new feature is coming to the game with its large second update planned for late 2026.
Players have been disappointed since the game’s release, noting that important areas from the original Kanto region are still missing. These concerns were validated when the Pokémon Pokopia Expansion Pass was unveiled during the June 2026 Nintendo Direct. The pass will include three major updates: a new town will be added in the first update, and the second will bring extra features to the game.
Official Pokémon Pokopia Artwork Hints Customization Is On The Way
It doesn’t make much sense to purchase the game right now since the initial major update isn’t available until August 2026. However, you can buy the Expansion Pass now at retailers like Smyths Toys. Fans have noticed that the artwork on the pass reveals some details about what will be included in the second update, coming later in 2026.
The artwork depicts two scenes. On the left, Ditto is shown diving underwater, hinting at a new location called Bubby Basin coming in an August 2026 update – a town players will discover beneath the sea. The right side features Ditto, Peakychu, and Snubbull sporting new clothes, implying that an upcoming second update will introduce clothing and accessories for all Pokémon, not just Ditto.

A major appeal of Pokémon Pokopia is its ability to let you chat with Pokémon – they can actually talk! This is a big change from other Pokémon games where they only say their names. Plus, each Pokémon has unique skills that help you develop the town and welcome new people, giving you a constant reason to find more.
Being able to dress up your Pokémon with clothes, hats, and accessories will make each town feel more special and give players a bigger incentive to play online.
