This week, The Pokémon Company revealed some significant updates about their upcoming title, Pokémon Legends: Z-A. During a Pokémon Presents broadcast back in 2024, they initially announced this game as part of the mainline Pokémon series, developed by Game Freak. At the conclusion of the trailer, they confirmed that it would be launched in 2025.
Just now, they’ve disclosed that Pokémon Legends: Z-A will officially launch, along with extra details such as pre-ordering options, the official cover art, and merchandise availability. Additionally, The Pokémon Company has revealed a new date for their Pokémon Presents presentation, allowing fans to pencil it into their calendars and prepare to watch the upcoming digital event.
The Pokémon Company officially announced that their new game, Pokémon Legends: Z-A, is set to launch worldwide on October 16th, 2025. This exciting title will be playable on the Nintendo Switch console, and an upgraded Switch 2 version will simultaneously release for those who purchase either the digital or physical edition of the game for the original Switch system on the same day.
Pokémon Legends: Arrives on October 16, 2025! Alongside the standard Nintendo Switch release, a Nintendo Switch 2 Edition is also available, boasting enhanced graphics and smoother gameplay. Both digital and physical copies of Pokémon Legends can be upgraded to the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition by purchasing an upgrade pack.

According to an official announcement, the Upgrade Pack for The Switch 2 can be purchased from both the Nintendo eShop and My Nintendo Store. This means that trainers will have the opportunity to pre-order Pokémon Legends: Z-A starting on June 5th, 2025, which is also the day the new Nintendo Switch 2 console will be released globally. So, mark your calendars!
The official artwork for Pokémon Legends: Z-A was unveiled, showcasing the primary characters with their Pokémon battling against a Mega-Evolved Pokémon. This reveal coincided with the announcement of the game’s release date. Regarding Mega Evolution, new merchandise themed around it has been announced. Fans can check out the assortment of goods now available at Pokémon Centers in Canada, the US, and the UK. Among these items are Mega Charizard X and Y pins, as well as a special line of clothing and accessories showcasing Mega Gengar, Mega Lucario, Mega Venusaur, and other characters.
Starting next month, trainers who pre-order Pokémon Legends: Z-A from Pokémon Centers in Canada, the U.S., and the U.K. will receive a free plush toy of Chikorita, Tepig, or Totodile as a bonus gift with their purchase. More information about Pokémon Legends: Z-A is yet to be revealed, but fans can look forward to learning more during the next Pokémon Presents presentation on July 22nd, 2025, which will be live-streamed on the Pokémon YouTube channel.
