Pokemon Go update 0.331.0 squashes bugs but breaks Go Plus devices

As a dedicated Pokemon Go player with years of experience under my belt and a trusty Go Plus device by my side, I can’t help but feel a sense of frustration and dismay upon learning about the latest update’s impact on these handy gadgets. The auto-catching feature was a game-changer for me, allowing me to catch Pokemon on the go without having to constantly check my phone.

As a dedicated Pokémon GO player, I’ve noticed that since the latest update, version 0.331.0, there seems to be an issue with my trusty Go Plus device. It feels like it’s not functioning properly anymore, and I’m not alone in this observation. Other trainers are also experiencing similar problems.

On the 16th of September, Monday, Niantic, the developer, introduced update version 0.331.0 for Pokemon Go. This update was intended to rectify glitches and enhance the overall performance, aiming to provide a more seamless gaming experience.

As a dedicated Pokémon Go player, I’ve noticed that the recent update seems to have addressed some issues, but unfortunately, it’s introduced a few more. Specifically, users of the Go Plus device find that it functions erratically when a Pokémon isn’t in focus.

A user reported to Pokemon Go Hub that whenever they switch tasks or lock their device, it disconnects from the game in about a minute. Upon reopening the game, it functions correctly once more.

The same user detailed their issue in TheSilphRoad subreddit, saying they tried numerous workarounds to no avail. Not even uninstalling the game or resetting their devices helped. September 19’s 0.331.1 update did not come with a solution, either.

For a brief period, using the older version 0.329.2 of Pokemon Go seemed effective. However, Niantic has made it necessary for players to download the latest update, causing problems for those with broken Pokemon Go Plus devices. Unfortunately, these users must wait for a suitable fix to become available.

It appears that the problem with the Go Plus devices might not be a solitary matter. Multiple Twitter and X users have reported that their devices have malfunctioned over the past few days.

As I was scrolling through the Pokemon Go Hub post, I couldn’t help but nod in agreement when I read this: “It’s no surprise that nothing happened while the game wasn’t in focus; it essentially becomes pointless until it gets fixed.

Someone else chimed in to add, “It’s the same case with Go ++ also…”

According to some users, their auto-catch features seem to function correctly following the recent updates on both Android and iOS devices. However, it’s uncertain how prevalent this problem is, as Niantic has not yet acknowledged or addressed it when this statement was made.
