Pokemon Go May 2025 Events: Raids, Spotlight Hours, Community Days, And More

This month marks the concluding phase of the Pokemon Go Might and Mastery season. To celebrate, the game has planned an array of events and new Pokemon introductions over the coming weeks. Players can look forward to encountering Kingambit, Dynamax Suicune, and other potent new creatures this month. Additionally, Mega Kangaskhan and Gigantamax Machamp will each take center stage during their separate Raid Day events.

Additionally, starting from May, fresh Raid Bosses and Featured Pokemon (known as Spotlight Pokemon) will rotate throughout the month. Moreover, there are two Community Days scheduled and other exciting activities lined up for Pokemon Go players to enjoy this month. Here’s a rundown of the major events happening in Pokemon Go during May.

May Raid Schedule

Pokemon Go is refreshing its Raid bosses once again in May.

From now until May 12, you’ll encounter the island protector, Tapu Fini, in five-star Raids. Afterward, the psychic trio – Azelf, Mesprit, and Uxie – will take over as Raid bosses across various regions. Once they leave, Tapu Bulu will reappear to conclude the month.

Refreshed Mega Raids bring back Mega Houndoom, Mega Gyarados, and Mega Altaria at various times each month. Additionally, Shadow Regirock will show up in unique Shadow Raids each weekend.

May Spotlight Hours

Pokemon Go’s weekly Spotlight Hours return in May with a new selection of Pokemon and bonuses.

Every Tuesday evening at 6-7 PM local time, there’s a special occasion when a specific Pokémon appears more frequently in the wild. This is an excellent chance to complete your Pokedex and gather plenty of Candy. During this hour, you’ll also receive additional bonuses, such as doubled Candy for capturing or transferring Pokémon.

Growing Up

Pokemon Go is kicking May off with a Growing Up event from May 2-7.

As a devoted fan, I can’t help but be excited about an upcoming event that truly lives up to its name! This exciting adventure revolves around the lesser-known Pokémon, those who start off weak but transform into powerful monsters. During this special period, you’ll encounter Pokémon such as Magikarp, Wimpod, Nymble, and many others more frequently in the wild. But that’s not all! If you’re lucky enough to find eggs, baby Pokémon like Happiny, Riolu, and Mime Jr. will hatch at a higher rate! I can hardly wait to see my underdog favorites evolve into champions!

Additionally, during the game, you’ll find a fresh Collection Challenge to conquer, along with field research tasks themed around events. Throughout this period, several bonuses will be in effect, such as an enhanced chance of stumbling upon shimmering Swablu, Magikarp, and Wimpod variants.

Mega Kangaskhan Raid Day

Pokemon Go is holding a Mega Kangaskhan Raid Day on May 3.

At the gaming event happening soon, expect Mega Kangaskhan Raids popping up at nearby Gyms between 2-5 PM in your local timezone. Each Kangaskhan I’ll battle against will be packing the normal-type Charged Attack Stomp, but

Furthermore, for a limited time, you’ll be allowed to carry 20 Remote Raid Passes instead of the usual amount. Plus, you’ll get an additional five Raid Passes as bonuses whenever you spin the Photo Disc at Gyms without any extra cost.

  • Remote Raid Pass limit increased to 20
  • Receive up to five additional free Raid Passes from Photo Discs
  • Increased odds of encountering shiny Kangaskhan

Crown Clash

Pokemon Go is getting regal with a Crown Clash event from May 10-18.

During the upcoming event, the Pokemon Kingambit, a member of the Big Blade family, will first appear in Pokemon Go. In order to obtain one, players should designate Bisharp as their buddy and conquer 15 Pokemon that are either dark or steel type.

Furthermore, you’ll encounter Pokemon with regal evolved forms like Slowpoke, Piplup, and Snivy more often in their natural habitats. Interestingly, versions of Nidoqueen and Nidoking adorned with crowns can be captured during three-star raids.

Dynamax Suicune Max Battle Weekend

The popular game, Pokemon Go, will be hosting another Max Battle Weekend on the dates of May 10th and 11th, with a special appearance by the Dynamax Suicune!

During the duration of the event, Suicune, a powerful Dynamax foe, will show up as a five-star Max Battle opponent, offering you an initial opportunity to engage in battle. Additionally, several benefits will be available during the event. The amount of Max Particles you can gather is temporarily boosted, and you’ll get eight times the standard number of Max Particles from Power Spots.

  • Max Particle collection limit increased to 1,600
  • 1/4 adventuring distance to receive Max Particles
  • Power Spots will refresh more frequently
  • 8x Max Particles from Power Spots

May Community Day

Pokemon Go’s first Community Day of May is set for May 11, and it stars the electric Pokemon Pawmi.

Between 2-5 PM local time, Pawmi is expected to show up in the wild more often than normal, providing an excellent opportunity to accumulate Pawmi Candies. Moreover, during this period, your chances of discovering a shimmering Pawmi variant also increase significantly.

Just like other highlighted Pokemon, Pawmi can acquire a unique Community Day-specific move when evolved at the right moment. Specifically, if you transform Pawmo into Pawmot before May 18th, it will learn the Charged Attack “Brick Break” during the evolution process.

During the upcoming Pawmi event in Pokemon Go, players can expect not only an influx of Pawmi spawns but also fresh Field and Timed Research tasks to engage with. Additionally, various benefits are on offer, such as:

1. Lure Modules and Incense activated will last for a prolonged period of three hours.
2. Catching Pokemon will reward double the usual amount of Candy.

  • For a limited time, you can evolve Pawmo into Pawmot after exploring 1 km with Pawmo as your buddy Pokemon
  • 1/4 hatching distance when eggs are placed into Incubators during the event
  • 2x Candy for catching Pokemon
  • 2x chance to receive Candy XL from catching Pokemon (for trainers level 31 and above)
  • Lure Modules will last for three hours
  • Incense will last for three hours (excluding Daily Adventure Incense)
  • One additional Special Trade can be made
  • Trades require 50% less Stardust

Crown Clash: Taken Over

The sinister Team Go Rocket is stepping out of hiding to seize control during the Crown Clash event, which runs from May 14th through 18th.

During the acquisition period, members of Team Go Rocket will show up more often at PokeStops and in floating balloons, carrying freshly captured Shadows such as Inkay, Tyrunt, and Amaura.

During this special event, I’ll encounter different Shadow Pokémon popping up in both single and triple raids. What’s more, there’s a brand-new Special Research mission that leads to the opportunity to save the Shadow Dialga from Team Go Rocket’s leader, Giovanni.

  • Team Go Rocket will appear more frequently in balloons and at PokeStops
  • Use a Charged TM to replace a Shadow Pokemon’s Charged Attack Frustration
  • Pokemon caught in one- and three-star Raids will have a wider variance of stats

As part of Team Go Rocket’s takeover, there will be a Shadow Raid Day on May 17.

Between 2-5 PM local time, the Shadow Regigigas will show up as a boss for Raid Battles at Gyms. Not only does this battle offer a greater chance of finding a shiny Shadow Regigigas, but the ones you manage to catch might have better attack, defense, and HP stats compared to regular ones.

Bonuses

  • Receive up to five additional free Raid Passes when you spin the Photo Disc at Gyms
  • Increased chance of encountering a shiny Regigigas in Shadow Raids
  • Regigigas caught via Shadow Raids may have higher attack, defense, and HP
  • Remote Raid Passes can be used to participate in Shadow Raids during the event
  • Remote Raid limit will temporarily be increased to 20

Final Strike: Go Battle Week

Pokemon Go concludes its Might and Mastery season by hosting a Go Battle Week, which runs from May 21st to May 27th. Further information about the event will be shared as we get closer to it.

Gigantamax Machamp Max Battle Day

Pokemon Go is closing out the month with a Gigantamax Machamp Max Battle Day on May 25.
