In Pokemon Go, we’re excited to announce that the final stages of the Galarian starters are now transforming into their Gigantamax forms! After the introduction of the Grass and Fire types, it’s now the turn of the Water-type Gigantamax Inteleon to shine.
Galarian starters’ final evolutions are adopting their Gigantamax forms in Pokemon Go! Following the entrance of Grass and Fire types, it’s now Water-type Gigantamax Inteleon’s time to grab the limelight.
After the introduction of Dynamax and Gigantamax Pokémon with the Max Out Season, these colossal creatures have been making appearances in Niantic’s game roughly every two months.
To delight players from around the world during the Go Fest 2025 in-person activities, the Galarian starters – Rillaboom, Cinderace, and Inteleon – will be receiving their Gigantamax forms as part of unique global free-to-play events.
It’s high time for the Water-type Gigantamax Inteleon to join its counterparts, Gigantamax Rillaboom and Gigantamax Cinderace, as they have already made their debut. This will happen during the Phantom Ruins event.
Gigantamax Inteleon weaknesses in Pokemon Go
In simple terms, the colossal Gigantamax Inteleon is exclusively vulnerable to Electric and Grass-type attacks due to its Water-type nature. Unlike other bosses, there’s a good selection of Dynamax and Gigantamax Pokemon with suitable types, making it relatively straightforward for players to construct a formidable team.
Remember, Gigantamax Inteleon is resistant to Fire, Ice, Steel, and Water-type attacks. Therefore, steer clear of using these types entirely as they’re unlikely to inflict significant damage on it.
Remember that only fellow Gigantamax or Dynamax Pokemon are eligible in Max Battles.
Gigantamax Inteleon best counters
Despite Dynamax and Gigantamax Pokémon being relatively fresh additions to the game, you’ll find numerous effective options to defeat a G-Max Inteleon.
Optimal picks for these battles include Gigantamax Rillaboom, Toxtricity, and Venusaur, since they exploit the vulnerabilities of Gigantamax Inteleon (both Electric and Grass types), while avoiding any of its resistance areas.
If some of those aren’t available, you could opt for their alternative Dynamax forms instead, or choose a different Pokémon from the selection. Note that generally, Gigantamax forms outperform their Dynamax equivalents in terms of damage output, being significantly stronger.
How to get Gigantamax Inteleon in Pokemon Go
The powerful Gigantamax Inteleon will make its first appearance during the Phantom Ruins event, happening from Saturday, June 14, 2025, at 10:00 AM to Wednesday, June 18, 2025, at 8:00 PM local time. This is a worldwide, no-cost event that coincides with the in-person Go Fest 2025 Paris gathering.
During this period, the 6-Star Max Battle boss, G-Max Inteleon, will become visible. Players have the opportunity to take on this formidable foe as often as they wish.
Just a heads up: Starting from May 13, 2025, players will have the convenience to participate in Max Battles from any location. They can do this by utilizing Remote Raid Passes which allow them to engage with Power Spots virtually.
In order to engage in a Gigantamax battle, players need to spend 800 Max Particles. You can gather these by visiting Power Spots on a daily basis. If you don’t manage to defeat the Max Battle boss during your attempt, the Max Particles will be returned to you, allowing you another chance to try.
Since you can’t capture these extraordinary beings in their colossal shapes, trainers get an opportunity to attempt catching a standard Inteleon with the Gigantamax capability after overcoming Gigantamax Inteleon.
How to evolve Inteleon into Gigantamax Inteleon
Instead of being considered evolutions, Gigantamax Pokemon represent stronger versions of specific creatures. However, they’re only temporary transformations, exclusive to battle situations.
Players are unable to transform Inteleon into its Gigantamax form. However, they can battle and capture a standard Inteleon that possesses the Gigantamax capability, as previously discussed.
In a Max Battle, when a player employs a Pokemon with this unique trait, once the Max Meter is fully charged, the Pokemon transforms into its Gigantamax form for a span of three turns. Afterward, it reverts to its regular shape, allowing players to accumulate more Max Particles and potentially change its form again.

Can Gigantamax Inteleon be Shiny?
No, Gigantamax Inteleon cannot be Shiny in Pokemon Go, as of yet.
As a gamer, I’m excited to share that in the game we’re playing, Shinies usually debut a year after their regular versions. That means I might need to be patient until the latter half of 2025 to potentially unlock Sobble’s (Inteleon’s base stage) Shiny version, as it was introduced in September 2024.
Adding Shiny Gigantamax Inteleon to the game makes it effortless for players to identify it, as the variations between different versions are distinctly noticeable.
Inteleon’s body color transitions from blue to turquoise, while its black areas transform into white. Additionally, the yellow accents on its eyelids, head, and cape become pink. To spot this Pokémon, players should look for the exceptionally long, white tail.
Keep in mind that the probability of discovering a Shiny Pokemon within the game is quite low, and there’s no unique technique to guarantee an encounter. However, all players can boost their chances of finding this rare beast (once it becomes available) by participating in as many Max Battles as they can.
