Pokemon Go August 2024 Events: Raids, Spotlight Hours, Community Days, And More

As a long-time Pokemon Go enthusiast, I must say that August is shaping up to be a truly exciting month for trainers like myself! From the weekly Spotlight Hours featuring various species of Pokemon, to the annual Adventure Week event with its increased spawns of rock and ground-type creatures, there’s something for everyone in this mobile game.


As a dedicated Pokemon Go player who has been playing since its release, I am thrilled to announce that August has officially begun! This means a plethora of exciting new events are just around the corner for us trainers. The mobile game is drawing its Shared Skies season to a close with a series of activities over the coming weeks, including a Team Go Rocket takeover and a Shadow Raid weekend. I can hardly contain my excitement as these events have always been some of my favorites in the past. I remember the thrill of battling against Team Go Rocket and the satisfaction of capturing powerful shadow Pokemon during the raid weekends. I am looking forward to seeing what new challenges and rewards this season will bring, and I encourage all fellow trainers to gear up and prepare for an unforgettable experience!

Besides those events, there are more exciting moments for players this month. Not just one, but two Community Days are scheduled for Pokemon Go during August. Furthermore, some beloved legendary and Mega Pokemon will make a comeback in raids for a brief period.

Raid Schedule

For the final month of its “Shared Skies” season, Pokemon Go is reintroducing a number of legendary and Mega Pokemon once more.

Over the coming weeks, you’ll find Moltres, Thundurus’ Incarnate Forme, and Xerneas in five-star battles. Meanwhile, Aerodactyl, Kangaskhan, and Salamence in their Mega forms will reappear in Mega raids. Additionally, Shadow Suicune will have a special weekend debut in the Shadow Raids throughout this month.

Spotlight Hours

Each week throughout August, the Spotlight Hour event in Pokemon Go will showcase a fresh set of special Pokemon along with additional rewards.

Every Tuesday evening, specifically between 6 and 7 PM according to your local time, a specific Pokémon tends to appear in the wild far more often than normal. This presents an excellent opportunity to accumulate that particular species’ candy. Moreover, you’ll receive additional benefits by participating during Spotlight Hour, such as doubled candy or XP for capturing or evolving Pokémon.

Pokemon Go is kicking off August with its annual Adventure Week event.

Between August 2nd to August 12th, you’ll notice an increased appearance of some rock- and ground-type Pokémon like Diglett, Drilbur, Roggenrola, and Bunnelby in the wild. Additionally, fossil Pokémon such as Cranidos, Shieldon, Tirtouga, and Tyrunt will more often emerge from 7km eggs during this period.

Moreover, the game introduces fresh event-related research missions and Collection Challenges. Additionally, it comes with numerous in-game perks during the event such as heightened chances of encountering shiny Pokémon and additional XP when spinning PokeStops or hatching eggs.

Adventure Week: Taken Over

Team Go Rocket returns for the second leg of Pokemon Go’s Adventure Week event.

Between August 8th and 12th, members of Team Go Rocket will show up at PokeStops, carrying new Shadow Pokemon such as Shadow Timburr, Shadow Tirtouga, and Shadow Archen. During this period, various Shadow Pokemon will be available in one-star and three-star raids. Additionally, there will be special Field Research tasks themed around the event for you to accomplish.

As a gamer, I can’t contain my excitement! Not only will I be immersed in the captivating world of Pokémon Go, but I’ll also have an opportunity to snag some legendary Shadow Pokémon. The elusive Shadow Cresselia is making its debut as part of a fresh Special Research story. Additionally, the formidable Shadow Lugia will return for a thrilling Shadow Raid Weekend mini-event from August 10th to 11th. Get ready to join me on this epic journey!

August Community Day Classic

On Sunday, August 18th, our monthly Community Day event occurs, where you can have another go at capturing a Pokémon that was highlighted before. Further information about this event will be shared as we get closer to the date.

Popplio Community Day

Pokemon Go August 2024 Events: Raids, Spotlight Hours, Community Days, And More

On Saturday, the 31st of August, the second Community Day occurs, featuring the water-type starter Pokemon, Popplio. This charming sea lion Pokemon will be seen in the wild much more often than usual from 2 PM to 5 PM local time. Moreover, you’ll have a higher probability of discovering a shimmering Popplio during this period.

Besides more frequent Popplio appearances, the game event offers additional perks such as extended duration of Incense and Lure Modules (3 hours instead of regular time), plus bonus Pokémon candy and experience points earned while catching Pokémon during the event.

Additionally, four-star raids showcasing Brionne (Popplio’s evolved form) will be held at gyms between 5 and 10 PM local time. If you manage to evolve Brionne into Primarina before 10 PM, it will learn the unique water-type Charged Attack, Sparkling Aria.
