A Pokémon theme park is opening in Tokyo, Japan, but visitors will have to pass a fitness test to participate fully in the experience.
Fans of Pokémon will soon be able to experience a dedicated area within Yomiuriland, Tokyo’s biggest amusement park. Yomiuriland is open all year and offers different attractions depending on the season, including water parks in the summer, cherry blossoms in the spring, and festive lights during the winter.
Okay, fellow Pokemon trainers, get ready! It looks like we’re finally getting a real-life Pokemon experience that’s going to be open all year round! Yomiuiriland is building a PokePark Kanto, and it’s going to be a permanent thing. They first teased it back in summer 2025, and it’s now scheduled to open in spring 2026 – I can’t wait to catch ’em all in real life!
In November 2025, it was announced that PokePark Kanto will open on February 5, 2026. However, trainers hoping to visit need to know about a specific requirement before making travel plans.

PokePark recreates games so accurately, it makes fans complete a real-life route
Similar to the popular Pokémon games it’s inspired by, PokePark Kanto will be divided into two main areas: Sedge Town and the Pokémon Forest.
Sedge Town is designed to feel like a town you’d find in a Pokemon game, complete with shops, performances, and fun rides.
The Pokémon Forest offers a unique experience. Players who’ve explored the games will recall traveling through diverse areas to catch Pokémon and challenge other trainers – from crossing rivers to searching through tall grass filled with wild Pokémon.

Staying true to the spirit of the games, the Pokémon Forest activity involves a 1,640-foot nature walk with varied terrain – including grass, hills, and tunnels.
To enter PokePark Kanto’s wooded area, trainers need to be able to climb 110 steps on their own. This is because the park requires a certain level of physical fitness for navigating the trails. Additionally, the park doesn’t allow children under five or anyone unable to complete the climb, even with a parent or guardian.

PokePark Kanto offers different ticket options that add to the regular Yomiuriland admission price. For example, a cheaper ticket is available, but it only gives you access to Sedge Town and doesn’t include the Pokemon Forest area.
Recent news about stolen Pokémon cards is getting a lot of attention online. American football star Tom Brady’s store in New York City was recently robbed, and the thieves made off with $10,000 worth of Pokémon cards.
