Pokemon card scalpers go viral after fight breaks out over vending machine restock

Two individuals who were reselling Pokémon cards clashed physically, as their race to sell every last one for a fast profit escalated from a monetary dispute into a real-life confrontation.

In the past few months, individuals who resell Pokemon cards have grown more aggressive. They’ve engaged in fights at Costco, trailed restockers between stores, and even caused GameStop to halt pre-orders.

In a more unusual turn of events, a pair of individuals elevated the madness further when they apparently appeared simultaneously at the same spot for a 10 AM restock.

Rather than automatically giving preference to those at the front of the queue for their contentious pastime, tensions escalated so severely that physical altercations occurred and it’s said that the police were required to intervene.

In a few TikTok posts shared by ‘yoc9official’, there was an incident where a man attempted to stop him from purchasing cards from a vending machine.

“10am at a restock. Just wanted to get my 151’s bro,” he captioned the video.

In the opening scene, I, as a devoted fan (yoc9official), find myself approaching the ordering station, ready to make my desired purchase. However, the attendant seems determined to halt my transaction process.

Despite the lack of audible conversation, the two men initiate a strange display of physical dominance by engaging in a verbal exchange and gripping each other firmly, testing their strength against one another.

In the comments section of his viral video (with over 3.2M views on TikTok and an additional 4.9M views on X), Yoc9 shared that the individual who was attempting to harm him was arrested, but he chose not to press charges, suggesting that everything is now okay for that person.

In another video, I find myself stepping aside and chatting with a store attendant about an incident that just occurred. I shared my side of the story, explaining why I ended up at the front of the line initially, and then went on to describe what unfolded following the argument.

According to him, he stated that his car position was appropriate… police arrived and found him feigning injury as they apprehended him. He mentioned that they inquired whether he wished to file charges, to which he responded negatively.

The recent incident with Pokemon cards is simply the newest example in a series of strange events, and it appears that the problem of resellers exploiting the market isn’t going away anytime soon.
