Pokemon announces PokePark Kanto theme park & fans are dissapointed

As a passionate gamer, I’m thrilled about the news that Pokemon is opening its first-ever permanent outdoor theme park, PokePark Kanto. It’s going to be an enchanting experience, no doubt! But, my fellow trainers, it seems our excitement is overshadowed by disappointment as we learn that this park won’t feature the long-awaited Pokemon Gyms or cities we’ve grown accustomed to in the games. Instead, it appears to be more focused on adorable attractions based on iconic characters and scenes from the Kanto region. While I understand the charm of a cuddly Pikachu balloon ride, I can’t help but yearn for a truly immersive Pokemon experience that mirrors our beloved video game adventures.

During the Pokemon Presents event, it was finally unveiled, following hints dropped as far back as 2023, that a completely new amusement park dedicated to Pokemon is set to open.

Over 26,000 square meters of ground is planned for a variety of distinct “Mons” (characters), well-known settings, the odd vehicle, and ample open areas for interaction or capturing them all.

The PokéPark Kanto is situated within the boundaries of Inagi City, Tokyo, nestled comfortably within the expansive grounds of Japan’s Yomiuriland amusement park. This makes it an ideal destination for adrenaline seekers and those yearning for tranquility alike.

PokePark Kanto finally brings Pokemon to life

During Pokemon Presents, it was unveiled that PokePark Kanto will include a charming Pokemon Woodland, reminiscent of the town Sedge, which bears a striking resemblance to Geosenge Town in the region of Kalos.

In the game, players will encounter Pokemon living in their native environments, which appear like statues scattered throughout the forest. Additionally, you’ll have the chance to explore Sedge Town, a place rumored to be home to both trainers and Pokemon. It remains unclear whether you’ll be able to interact with them during your adventure.

Additionally, on this map, you can spot several attractions themed around Pokémon. This suggests that even more such offerings are likely to follow soon.

PokePark Kanto will be unveiled in early 2026, with ticket sales planned to begin in late 2025.

Nevertheless, although the park appears charming, fans felt let down as they had expected the announcement to be about PokePark, a video game initially launched for the Wii in 2011.

One user expressed on X that they were heavily teased and are eagerly awaiting PokePark 3 for the Nintendo Switch. Another user shared similar feelings, lamenting that they believed it was a new Pokemon Pokepark game; their dreams have been shattered.

It appears that a new Pokepark game isn’t coming out for a while, so if you wish to explore the latest park, your best bet would be to visit Japan instead.
