Following the success of my beloved movie “The Marching Band,” I’m thrilled to announce that I’ll be collaborating once more with talented director Emmanuel Courcol on his upcoming project, “Greenland.” This heartfelt family drama brings together two of France’s most esteemed actors, Sandrine Kiberlain, renowned for her role in “The Divine Sarah Bernhardt,” and Benoit Magimel, a familiar face from “The Taste of Things.” I can hardly wait!
Based on Valentine Goby’s hit book “Banquises,” the movie unfolds following a girl’s mysterious disappearance during a journey in Norway. Three years later, her passport is found in Greenland. Unbeknownst to anyone, Manon, her 17-year-old sister, embarks on a personal mission to unravel the secret behind her sibling’s vanishing. As they grapple with the hope of reuniting with their long-lost child and the dread of potentially losing another, Carine and Laurent, despite being apart, join forces to travel to Greenland, as suggested by the storyline.
The film was created by Marc Bordure from Agat Films, who has previously worked on “The Great Arch” and “The Marching Band.” Alongside him as co-producers are Emile Hertling Peronard and Pipaluk K. Jørgensen from Polarama Greenland.

Greenland brings Courcol back together with his “Marching Band” collaborator, Irène Muscari. The production company, Playtime, has started pre-sales at the Cannes market and is privately distributing the script to a few potential buyers.
Last year at Cannes, “The Marching Band” had its first showing and was one of the highest-grossing French films of 2024, selling tickets to more than 2.6 million viewers and receiving seven Cesar nominations. The movie was acquired by Playtime for distribution in over 45 countries worldwide, with strong box office returns in every location where it was screened.
Sébastien Beffa, Co-CEO of Playtime, commented that Emmanuel Courcol is undeniably a skillful storyteller, as evidenced by his past movies. He added that ‘Greenland’ offers an equally moving and impactful experience like ‘The Marching Band.’ Beffa anticipates the same level of market success for Courcol’s upcoming film.
The primary team comprises the cinematographer Maxence Lemonnier, the editor Guerric Catala, the sound designers Pascal Armant and Pierre Gauthier, and the production designer Rafael Mathé.
