Playmaker Closes Deals on Thriller ‘Sew Torn’ Ahead of Sitges Screening (EXCLUSIVE)

As a seasoned movie buff with a penchant for uncovering hidden gems, I find myself intrigued by the upcoming release of “Sew Torn.” With its unique blend of thriller and dark comedy, it’s not often that we encounter such a layered narrative that delves into the complexities of human decision-making.

The sales agency, The Playmaker Munich, has secured its initial distribution agreements for the thriller “Sew Torn,” before it makes its debut at the Noves Vision Section of the Sitges Film Festival in November.

The movie that was exhibited at SXSW and Locarno has been purchased by distributors from various countries, including France (Koba Films), the United Kingdom (Vertigo Releasing), Spain (Madfer Films), Japan (King Records), and India (BookMyShow India).

The UTA Independent Film Group, holding distribution rights across North America, is currently engaging in discussions with potential distribution partners.

I’m making my feature film debut with “Sew Torn,” a project that stemmed from my earlier short film of the same name, which was picked up by Searchlight Pictures. My AFI thesis film, “Shedding Angels,” earned a Student Academy Award and made it to the student BAFTA shortlist. I’m proudly represented by UTA.

The movie ‘Sew Torn’ can be characterized as a multi-layered mystery-comedy that delves into the complex web of human choices.

The movie revolves around Barbara Duggen (portrayed by Eve Connolly), also known as the Mobile Tailor, who’s fighting to keep her fabric store afloat. A mishap during a sewing appointment sends her on a mission to find a replacement for her client’s lost button. This leads her to an apparent drug deal gone awry, leaving motorcyclists injured, weapons scattered, and a mysterious briefcase in sight. Caught between a rock and a hard place, Barbara finds herself confronted with three options: carry out the flawless heist, dial the authorities, or make a quick exit.
