After investing approximately 3,889 days (or 35,000 hours) into the game Ark: Survival Evolved, one gamer has written an unfavorable review and requested a refund.
If you invest numerous or even countless hours into playing a game, it’s often presumed that you find the game enjoyable. However, as experienced gamers are aware, this isn’t necessarily true all the time. Sometimes, the experience can be complex, involving both liking and disliking aspects of the game in a love-hate fashion.
It’s not necessarily the case that a player’s dedication to a particular game guarantees their satisfaction with it. A Steam user recently demonstrated this point through their review.
Following an incredible 35,000 hours invested in Ark: Survival Evolved, this specific player wrote a critical review and requested a refund.
Ark: Survival Evolved player with 35,000 hours finally leaves review

In their review posted on July 18, 2025, they first claimed that Ark is one of their favorite games to play with friends and family, after mentioning that they’ve enjoyed the 35,000 hours they’ve spent on it.
They shared that for many years, they had been managing an ASM server with modifications. However, recently, they’ve encountered a problem: everything seems to be malfunctioning. Specifically, they noticed that the servers are incompatible and the mods they used no longer function as they should, according to their personal experience.
So, all these circumstances are pushing us towards ASA, a game I’ve found disappointing as well. We returned to ASE, but unfortunately, you’ve somehow messed that up too,” they continued.
In conclusion, they stated: “There was something fantastic about it. I just hope you’re not letting greed take over! Can you guide me through the refund process?” or
At the end of their review, they said: “You had an excellent product. But I worry that greed might be getting the best of you. Could you help me with a refund please?
In a similar vein to other recent reviews, they’ve expressed concerns about several aspects of the game. At this moment, Steam rates the game as “Mixed,” primarily because of the July 16, 2025 Aquatica update that was met with criticism from players due to the numerous issues it introduced in the game.
In light of recent events, the developers’ comment about taking advantage of the temporary Aquatica discount, “Purchase it now for future play when the fixes are done,” only served to intensify the situation further, as stated in their latest announcement.
In a nutshell, given the Steam refund policy which allows returns only for games bought in the past four days and with under 2 hours of gameplay, this user doesn’t qualify because they’ve exceeded those requirements.
