Player Recreates Cintra in The Witcher 3 with New Story Set Before Book Saga. Prologue is Already Available

As an avid fan with years of gaming history under my belt, I must say that this latest Redkit Modding Contest entry has truly caught my attention. The prospect of exploring the kingdom of Cintra before the plot we know from the books is intriguing and the fact that it’s just the beginning of a larger story saga called “Tales of the Witcher” makes me genuinely excited.

Today marks the final deadline for entries to the Redkit Modding Contest, and it seems that the most impressive submissions are being saved until the end. Interestingly, a handful of robust contenders have emerged just before the finish line, and we believe they stand a strong chance of taking the top prize.

Today, we’re unveiling a mod that leaves a strong impression in terms of its conceptual breadth. The player intends to rebuild the kingdom of Cintra and hinted that this is merely the start – the project is still in its infant stages of development and is intended to expand into an extensive narrative series titled Tales from The Witcher.

Sentimental return to the past

The events unfold prior to the familiar plotline depicted in the books. Currently, there are two optional missions that function as a prelude to the main story. At present, the city serves only as a sneak peek of what’s to come – later on, the developer intends to revamp the leveling system, the battle system, and even incorporate character progression. New locales are also in the pipeline. We can anticipate nods to the first and second installments of The Witcher – the modder is planning to integrate combat animations similar to those seen in the second part, furthermore, the music featured in the trailer is from the original game.

The intriguing details don’t stop here – it’s worth noting that the game’s city layout was modeled after Khorinis. This is a subtle reference to the iconic Gothic series, appealing to those gamers who cherish the nostalgia of old RPGs, where the thrill often lay in the adventure of exploring uncharted territories and unearthing hidden corners of the map.

The primary concept behind the update focuses on crafting an engaging environment that invites players to roam freely and deeply engage with the world of The Witcher. TotW aspires to foster a more relaxed gameplay pace and essentially function as a “witcher simulator,” where the essence lies in completing monster-related tasks.
