Planet Coaster 2’s new roadmap proves there’s still hope for this theme park sim

Initially, the release of Planet Coaster 2 was met with some difficulties, leading many players to prefer the original game. The interface was clunky and hard to navigate, there was a scarcity of content, guest limits were frustrating, and the power and water systems often caused annoyance. Even now, several months later, it receives mixed feedback on Steam. However, recently, player feedback has been more encouraging, and with Frontier’s latest roadmap, things seem to be improving.

What’s new for 2025

With each passing month, Frontier is delivering on their promise of additional rides, themes, and essential enhancements. The February update, for instance, has brought substantial improvements such as custom speakers, video billboards, and a streamlined management and economic system. It seems that players are gradually regaining trust in Planet Coaster 2, evidenced by its renewed popularity.

The Western motif is set to return in March, yet it’s April’s “create-your-own restaurant” aspect that has everyone buzzing. Moreover, the Frontier Workshop is due for some enhancements, including a “What’s Hot” list, a Creators list, and notifications when your preferred creators release new content. As for what’s in store for May and beyond, details are scarce, but these updates should bolster the game’s overall stability and efficiency.

Improving, but still work in progress

Initially, the feedback wasn’t overly positive, but it appears we’re making progress now. The latest comments indicate:

Although the game initially lacked completion upon release, it’s now evolving into everything I had hoped for in a follow-up title.

The quality of this game is steadily improving, with the recent updates offering significant enhancements compared to its initial release. Nevertheless, there’s still quite a bit of progress to be made.

whilst it does have a few rough edges, the core park simulation is as entertaining as ever

Although most recent feedback indicates a general satisfaction, not every player finds contentment with Planet Coaster 2. Some argue it’s overly similar to the first version, incomplete, and expensive, contending that an early access launch would have been more fitting. Others are disgruntled as Frontier is already offering paid DLCs rather than enhancing the base game by adding new features and themes.

If you’re undecided about getting Planet Coaster 2 and aren’t planning on getting it through Game Pass, it might be wise to wait a bit longer for additional updates or a significant price reduction. Here’s hoping that Jurassic World Evolution 3 will turn out to be an improvement!
