Pirate Software is hemorrhaging YouTube subscribers since Stop Killing Games controversy

Over a period of merely two weeks, Pirate Software has experienced a significant decrease of over 100,000 YouTube subscribers due to ongoing criticism related to their contentious views on the Anti-Gaming Violence campaign.

Since June 23rd, the pirate’s broadcasting platform has witnessed a noticeable drop in viewership, coinciding with when Ross Scott, creator of the SKG movement, published a video on his Accursed Farms channel entitled “The Demise of Stop Killing Games.

In his reply, Scott claimed that Pirate had sabotaged the movement and distorted its objectives in the initial 2023 video. Since then, Pirate Software has encountered significant criticism, with the SKG petition gathering more than a million signatures beyond its target.

Pirate Software continues to bleed subscribers

Based on information from Social Blade, Pirate Software’s channel saw a drop of approximately 110,000 subscribers between June 26 and July 9. If we extend the data period to the past 30 days, that number increases to around 120,000 subscribers.

The maximum daily losses were recorded at 20,000 on June 26, with the number steadily declining by another 10,000 in the following days.

Pirate Software lost over 100,000 subscribers between June 25 and July 9, 2025.

During a live stream on the 4th of July on Twitch, Jason Thor Hall (also known as Pirate) stated that he had been subjected to death threats and swatting incidents following the release of his SKG video. In response to the campaign, he made a comment saying, “I hope your initiative achieves everything you requested, but nothing you desired.

Currently, the “Stop Killing Games EU Citizens” campaign has garnered more than 1.2 million signatures in support.
