‘Phineas and Ferb’ Starts Rap Beef With John Oliver After He Mistakenly Says It Airs on PBS (EXCLUSIVE)

It’s unlikely that John Oliver anticipated this conversation. Last week, the host of “Last Week Tonight” made an appearance on Bravo’s “Watch What Happens Live.” During the show, Andy Cohen questioned him about what his children are watching on TV. In response, Oliver revealed that “Bluey” and “Phineas and Ferb” are currently dominating the screen time at his home.

He enthusiastically declared that ‘Phineas and Ferb’ was genuinely humorous, boasting some witty jokes. However, surprisingly, neither Cohen nor Oliver were aware of where the series ‘Phineas’ aired – despite it being a mainstay on Disney Channel since 2008. The closest Oliver could guess was, “I suppose… PBS?

The creators of “Phineas and Ferb,” Dan Povenmire and Jeff “Swampy” Marsh, didn’t take kindly to those comments. In response, they and their writing team, who are currently working on the upcoming revival set to premiere this summer on both Disney Channel and Disney+, are playfully retaliating with humor.

Hopefully starting an amicable, friendly rap exchange (apologies to Drake and Kendrick), Povenmire and Marsh composed a rap, filmed a video criticizing Oliver for not knowing Phineas’ residence. However, they conclude with a suggestion: Perhaps you could make amends by lending your voice to the show, as their colleague Jon Stewart from “The Daily Show” has done.

It’s highly probable that Oliver will soon realize: Povenmire has skyrocketed in popularity on social media platforms, amassing close to 8 million followers between TikTok and Instagram. To add to this, “Phineas and Ferb” is set to send a massive Perry the Platypus cutout to Oliver’s office today, along with an invitation for a special save-the-date to their upcoming premiere event.

Here’s the video:

Disney has unveiled the first teaser for the comeback of “Phineas and Ferb”, a series that’s been off the air for a decade since its original broadcast concluded. The original voice actors such as Vincent Martella (Phineas Flynn), David Errigo Jr. (Ferb Fletcher), Ashley Tisdale (Candace Flynn), Caroline Rhea (Linda Flynn-Fletcher), Dee Bradley Baker (Perry the Platypus) and Alyson Stoner (Isabella Garcia-Shapiro) are back on board. Povenmire voices Dr. Heinz Doofenshmirtz, while Marsh voices Major Francis Monogram in this revival.

Based on the official summary, “the upcoming season of ‘Phineas and Ferb’ will see the resourceful step-brothers embarking on another 104 summer days of invention. This time, Candace is more determined than ever to expose her brothers, while their pet platypus Perry continues his double life as the dashing Agent P, whose goal is to prevent Dr. Doofenshmirtz from gaining control over the Tri-State region.

On June 5, at 8 p.m. Eastern Time, the initial two episodes of “Phineas and Ferb” will be aired on both Disney Channel and Disney XD. The opening 10 episodes of this season will debut on Disney+ in the United States and certain international regions starting from June 6.
