If you didn’t find the first-person horror game particularly frightening, you might want to have an extra pair of pants on hand when you watch the Phasmophobia film produced by Blumhouse, as it’s likely to give you quite a scare!
When you hear the name Blumhouse, you immediately associate it with contemporary masters of horror films. In recent times, they have produced a remarkable collection of horror movies, such as Drop, The Woman in the Yard, Werewolf, House of Plunder, Speak No Evil, Afraid, Imaginary, Night Swim, Five Nights at Freddy’s, and The Exorcist: Believer.
As an eager moviegoer, I’m thrilled to share some exciting updates! My favorite studio has a stacked lineup for the future. First up is M3GAN 2.0, set to release on June 27, 2025. Then, we have The Black Phone 2 scheduled for October 17, 2025. Last but not least, Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 will hit the screens on December 5, 2025. But wait, there’s more! This is just a taste of what they have in store for us.
As a die-hard fan, I’m thrilled to share that Blumhouse is bringing the chilling first-person survival horror game Phasmophobia, developed by Kinetic Games, to life on the big screen! Brace yourself for an unnerving cinematic experience.
Paranormal horror game Phasmophobia to become Blumhouse movie
In Hollywood’s realm of terror, Blumhouse Production has revealed their intention to adapt Phasmophobia into a horror film. At this point, there’s no news regarding its production or premiere, but considering the studio’s future release schedule, it seems we won’t be seeing it on the big screen for some time yet.
If you’re not familiar, Phasmophobia is essentially a cooperative ghost-hunting game. In its simplest form, you can play it alone or team up with up to three other players. Your objective is to complete a job, which involves figuring out the kind of spirit that’s haunting a particular location before any professionals arrive on the scene.
When playing FNAF style games, especially if you’re teaming up locally with others, you communicate via walkie-talkies or voice chat. In all, there are twenty-four distinct ghostly entities, each one exhibiting different behaviors and offering exclusive hints.
In this game, as you progress in your mission, you’ll encounter situations that gradually erode your sanity. The deeper you delve, the more unbalanced you become. This instability triggers ghostly pursuits and attempts on your life. To add to the terror, all exits are sealed, forcing you to either outmaneuver or hide until the chase ends.
The specifics of how this will play out visually are still uncertain, but since Blumhouse, Atomic Monster, and Kinetic Games Limited are joining forces to produce the film, we might expect a very accurate portrayal on screen.
