This year’s schedule for London’s FrightFest 2025 has been unveiled, with comedian Pete Davidson’s highly anticipated horror film “The Home” set to kick off the festival as its opening act.
For fans of the chilling and supernatural, FrightFest – a long-running event dedicated to horror and fantasy films – has consistently drawn crowds for a quarter of a century. If you’re one of those people who enjoys being scared witless, this festival is definitely worth checking out!
Once again, a five-day spectacle filled with unusual and captivating elements, including short films, will be back at Odeon LUXE cinemas in Leicester Square. This event will feature movies hailing from various parts of the globe.

The Toxic Avenger is playing FrightFest, and The Descent returns
In August, FrightFest will be presenting 69 films, with “The Home” being the initial one. This horror film, created by the same team behind “The Purge,” sets up a confrontation between former Saturday Night Live star Pete Davidson and malevolent entities lurking within an elderly care facility.
At the same festival, the first UK showing of “The Toxic Avenger” will take place, alongside a remake of the original Troma film, which boasts an impressive cast including Kevin Bacon, Elijah Wood, and in the title role, Peter Dinklage.
Twenty years ago, The Descent made an immediate impact during its debut at FrightFest. This year, its creator, writer-director Neil Marshall, returns with a fresh 4K remastered version of the film. Notably, both Marshall and some of the cast members will be present at the FrightFest screening.

Notable features also encompass the joint effort by Joe Begos and Eli Roth, Jimmy and Stiggs; Simon Rumley’s highly anticipated thriller, Crushed; a documentary on A Serbian Film titled A Serbian Documentary; and Samara Weaving’s latest horror movie, Borderline.
Regarding this year’s schedule, festival co-director Alan Jones comments: “FrightFest, now in its 26th year, continues to be the top choice for UK fans of genre films. The 2025 event promises to be extraordinary in every way, honoring creativity, pushing boundaries, and showcasing diversity.
