Persona 5: The Phantom X bans naming yourself after certain Twitch streamers

In the game Persona 5: The Phantom X, players have the freedom to choose their character’s name, but there are hidden limitations in place. Interestingly, the names Hasan Piker and Asmongold are not available for selection under certain circumstances.

In simple terms, Phantom X merges the world of Persona 5 with the popular gacha game format, offering a unique take on its turn-based combat system. This innovation paves the way for a fresh narrative within the structure of Persona 5’s storyline.

Even though Persona 5 is approaching its tenth year, it continues to captivate fans due to its distinctive flair. Consequently, it’s no wonder that this gacha game has enjoyed widespread popularity since its release.

On the other hand, individuals giving their characters names have found some strangely specific and unusual restrictions on names they wish to choose, leading players to enjoy uncovering all the prohibited words instead.

Persona 5: The Phantom X target bans 2 certain streamer names

For names prohibited in P5X, they are generally forbidden by using Regular Expressions (RegEx). This method signifies that a name is not allowed if it contains the specific term, regardless of its case sensitivity.

Players can’t choose names like “Brass” or “Bass” since the word “ass,” which is prohibited due to its RegEx connection, must not appear in the name, regardless of case or context as a sequence of characters.

In the game P5X, both “Mr Beast” and “IShow Speed” are not allowed due to the individual words “Beast” and “Speed” being prohibited for unknown reasons. Many common phrases and terms are restricted in this way, causing confusion among players when they attempt to choose their username.

Noteworthy among the case-specific name restrictions are “Asmon Gold” and “Hasan Piker”. It’s important to clarify that if someone prefers to be named Hasan, they need not concern themselves with this list, as it’s only “Hasan Piker” that is prohibited.

Furthermore, it’s perfectly acceptable to call yourself “Gold Asmon” or incorporate “Asmon” into your name. However, using “Asmon Gold” is not allowed.

Notable prohibited names also include “Sigma”, a reference from Persona 3, as well as “Game” and “Gaming”. Many players were disheartened to learn they couldn’t name themselves Chicken Jockey, and “Chicken” is on the list too. Other banned names are “Vegan”, “Mog”, and several iconic names from Family Guy such as “Peter Griffin” and “Stewie”. It was a tough day for fans of Family Guy.

Regardless of a few gamers needing multiple tries to adapt to the stringent naming limitations in P5X, the general response towards the game has been favorable. In fact, it garnered Mostly Positive reviews on Steam as soon as it was launched.
