Persona 4 Voice Actor Says He Wasn’t Invited Back For A Still-Unannounced Remake

It appears that Yuri Lowenthal, who voiced Yosuke Hanamura in Persona 4, hinted at potential plans for a remake of the game through a social media post, suggesting he wasn’t invited back to reprise his role. However, Atlus has yet to officially announce if they are indeed working on a remake of this beloved RPG title.

In a recent post on Bluesky, Lowenthal clarified that he won’t reprise his role as Yosuke for the Persona 4 remake. He expressed his desire to return, going so far as to plead, but it seems they have other plans.

As much as I’d love to jump back into the shoes of Yosuke in the Persona 4 remake, it seems like it ain’t happening. I’ve pleaded my case, I’ve made my requests, but alas, they’re not budging on this one. Guess it’s time for me to explore new gaming worlds!

Speculation about a potential remake of Persona 4 has been circulating since the launch of Persona 3 Reload back in February. Lately, these whispers have grown louder, with sources like extas1s suggesting that the remake might be unveiled during the Xbox Games Showcase. However, Atlus has remained silent on this matter, so Lowenthal’s remarks are the first indication we’ve received from someone who might have inside knowledge about it.

If it’s accurate, it’s disheartening to learn that Lownethal might not reprise his role as Yosuke in a potential remake of Persona 4. This decision seems consistent with Atlus’ approach for Persona 3 Reload, where original voice actors didn’t return to voice their characters either. Lownethal’s statements imply that this choice by Atlus isn’t due to actor availability, and it appears that other Persona 4 voice actors won’t be reprising their roles in the remake as well.

It’s possible that if rumors about a Persona 4 remake are accurate, Atlus might unveil it during the Xbox Games Showcase on June 8. This year, enthusiasts of classic role-playing games can anticipate the release of Dragon Quest 1+2 HD-2D Remake as well.
