Walt Disney Imagineering has obtained a permit to install new features inside the former MuppetVision 3D theater at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Orlando, Florida. The work will all take place within the existing theater building.
A permit application filed in early March 2026 identifies Walt Disney Imagineering as the applicant and Adirondack Studios as the builder. The documents don’t specify what kind of show will be featured in the space, and Disney hasn’t shared any further information about when it might open.
We’ve heard that MuppetVision 3D will be replaced by a new show, and the working title, “The Glob,” is a nod to Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre. However, Disney hasn’t shared any official details about the Monsters, Inc.-themed show yet.

The permit description, “install set elements,” generally covers:
- Placement of scenic or themed structures inside the existing space
- Installation of props, stage elements, or other thematic components
External work on the building has already been underway, with scaffolding visible to guests.
Background on Adirondack Studios
Adirondack Studios builds and creates immersive experiences for themed entertainment, and they’ve worked on numerous projects with Walt Disney Imagineering. They specialize in the design, construction, and installation of the detailed interior features that bring attractions to life.

As a huge Disney fan, I’ve always been impressed by the talented people behind the magic! They’ve actually worked on some really amazing things at Walt Disney World, like…
- Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind at EPCOT
- Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure at EPCOT
- Frozen Ever After at EPCOT.
Historical Context and Significance
MuppetVision 3D debuted at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in 1991. It was created through a partnership between Walt Disney Imagineering and the creators of the Muppets.
The theater shut its doors on June 7, 2025, and fans were saddened by the loss of a significant project from the later years of Jim Henson’s career, before he passed away in 1990.

As a big Disney fan, I was a little sad to hear MuppetVision 3D is closing. But it seems Disney’s making some big changes in that part of Hollywood Studios! They’re totally transforming the old Muppet Courtyard into a Monsters, Inc. area, which actually sounds amazing. From what I’ve heard, they’re building a really cool coaster right next to the giant energy ball – it’s supposed to look like a bunch of flying doors! I’m really excited to see how it all comes together.
Timeline and Future Considerations
The construction project is anticipated to take several months to finish. Disney hasn’t announced when it will be completed. They usually share details about projects just before they open, so we likely won’t have more information for a while.
