Get ready to watch a new version of Saturday Night Live! Peacock has announced that U.S. viewers can stream the British adaptation of the show just one day after it airs in the U.K. The series premieres on SKY One and NOW in the U.K. on March 21st, and will then be available on Peacock the following day.
According to Liz Jenkins, a business leader at NBCUniversal Entertainment, bringing a UK version of Saturday Night Live to Peacock is a logical next step for the show’s established brand. She stated that Peacock, as the streaming platform for SNL, is excited to showcase fresh comedic talent from Britain to an international audience.
The new spinoff features a cast of relatively unknown comedians, which isn’t unusual – many Americans weren’t familiar with Gilda Radner when the original show debuted in 1975. The performers include Hammed Animashaun, Ayoade Bamgboye, Larry Dean, Celeste Dring, George Fouracres, Ania Magliano, Annabel Marlow, Al Nash, Jack Shep, Emma Sidi, and Paddy Young. The show’s hosts haven’t been announced yet, but we’re watching to see if Queen Camilla might take on the role.
