Percy Jackson Show on Disney+ May Last 5 Seasons, Rick Riordan Shares Exciting Update

Rick Riordan recently shared some insights about the future developments of his popular coming-of-age action fantasy series, following a preliminary renewal for Season 3 over a month ago. Aside from being the author, Riordan also holds executive producer and creator roles in the live-action TV version of his bestselling novel franchise.

Rick Riordan expressed cautious optimism about potential additional seasons for the Disney+ series adaptation of “Percy Jackson and the Olympians”. He acknowledged that the future is uncertain and depends on viewership numbers, but he’s confident they’re off to a good start. While nothing has been confirmed yet, everyone involved is hopeful and planning for a full five-season arc. However, the release schedule remains unclear as each season requires significant time to produce.

Apart from Riordan, it’s important to note that Jonathan E. Steinberg is also the creator and executive producer of “Percy Jackson and the Olympians.” Since its premiere in 2023, Season 1 has garnered a Certified Fresh rating of 91% on Rotten Tomatoes from 66 reviews. The main cast includes Walker Scobell as Percy, Leah Sava Jeffries as Annabeth, Aryan Simhadri as Grover, with additional actors such as Charlie Bushnell as Luke Castellan, Dior Goodjohn as Clarisse La Rue, Virginia Kull as Sally, Glynn Turman as Chiron, Adam Copeland as Ares, Toby Stephens as Poseidon, and others in Season 2.

Sea of Monsters,” we find Percy Jackson returning to Camp Half-Blood a year later only to discover his life has been flipped on its head. His bond with Annabeth is shifting, he discovers he has a cyclops sibling named Grover has gone missing, and the camp is under attack by Kronos’ forces. To rectify this situation, Percy will venture beyond familiar territory and into the treacherous Sea of Monsters, where his destiny as Poseidon’s son holds a shocking secret. Additionally, future installments will introduce new characters such as Daniel Diemer portraying Tyson, Andra Day as Athena, Courtney B. Vance as Zeus, and Kristen Schaal, Margaret Cho, and Sandra Bernhard as the Grey sisters.

Percy Jackson Season 2 Will Feature More Action

In Scobell’s words, fans can anticipate a more action-packed experience in Percy Jackson Season 2 compared to the first, as the main characters encounter even tougher challenges. He hinted, “Last season felt like we were in one spot, having conversations and then there’d be an action sequence, you know what I mean? It was fantastic! But this season, the risks are elevated for our characters, so it seems like there’s rarely a moment when we just pause to chat. Instead, we’re almost constantly engaged in some activity, which I believe aligns perfectly with the intensity of the book. There’s simply so much on the line for our characters.

Percy Jackson returns with new episodes on Disney+ sometime in December 2025.
