As a long-time fan of Timothy Simons’ dry wit and versatile acting prowess, I am beyond excited to see him join the cast of “Percy Jackson and the Olympians” Season 2! From his memorable role as Jonah Ryan in “Veep” to his captivating performances in various series and films, Simons has proven time and again that he can bring any character to life with his unique charm.
It’s been confirmed that “Percy Jackson and the Olympians” Season 2 will feature actor Timothy Simons as a new cast member, according to exclusive information obtained by EbMaster.
In the Disney+ adaptation of Rick Riordan’s book series, Simons is set to reoccur as the character Tantalus.
As I take my seat and the opening credits roll, I find myself drawn into the world of “Camp Half-Blood.” In this film, we meet Tantalus, a character brimming with sarcasm, cunning manipulation, open hostility, and a perpetual bad mood. Cursed with an unquenchable hunger and thirst, he is doomed never to find relief.
Simon is added to the already announced new Season 2 cast, which includes Sandra Bernhard, Kristen Schaal, Margaret Cho portraying the Grey Sisters, Daniel Diemer taking on the role of Tyson, and Walker Scobell reprising his character Percy. Leah Sava Jeffries will return as Annabeth, while Aryan Simhadri remains as Grover. Additionally, several cast members from Season 1 are set to return.
Simon is primarily recognized for his portrayal of Jonah Ryan in the critically acclaimed HBO sitcom “Veep,” a role he played throughout its entire seven-season run. He has also made appearances on other television shows such as “Candy,” “Looking for Alaska” on Hulu, and “Station Eleven” on Max. Coming up next is his appearance in the Netflix series “Nobody Wants This,” which is set to debut in September. Additionally, he has been featured in movies like “Don’t Worry Darling,” “The Interview,” “Christine,” and “Inherent Vice.”
He is repped by UTA and Myman Greenspan.
In Season 2, Percy Jackson comes back to Camp Half-Blood a year later only to discover everything’s been flipped around. His bond with Annabeth is shifting, he finds out he has a cyclops sibling, Grover disappears, and the camp is under attack by Kronos’ troops. To rectify this situation, Percy will venture beyond familiar places into the treacherous Sea of Monsters, where a hidden destiny beckons the child of Poseidon.
The Disney-branded TV series, titled “Percy Jackson,” was created by Riordan and Jon Steinberg, with James Bobin directing the initial episode. Currently, Steinberg along with his producing partner Dan Shotz, are supervising the series as executive producers, and they serve as showrunners. Additionally, Bobin, Rick Riordan, Rebecca Riordan, Bert Salke, Monica Owusu-Breen, Jim Rowe, Anders Engström, Jet Wilkinson, Gotham Group’s Ellen Goldsmith-Vein, Jeremy Bell, and D.J. Goldberg are also serving as executive producers. The studio responsible for its production is 20th Television. Previously, Bert Salke was the president of Touchstone Television, and it was under his leadership that the show entered development.
