As a longtime Marvel fanatic who’s spent countless hours immersed in the rich tapestry of Marvel lore, I’ve been thrilled to witness the latest developments in Marvel Rivals. The D23 Brazil presentation was a treasure trove of exciting announcements, and the confirmation of Moon Knight joining the roster is simply icing on the cake!
As a hardcore gamer, I’ve been on cloud nine lately! Just last weekend, Marvel Rivals was right in the thick of things at Disney’s D23 event in Brazil. Meanwhile, our friends over at NetEase Games have been keeping us hooked with regular updates on their social media channels, all leading up to the worldwide launch of this game next month.
Prior to Moon Knight’s official unveiling, the developer also disclosed fresh content for Peni Parker, and it has also been announced that another character will have a new cosmetic available at launch. This latest character is following a pattern with previous skin reveals for Rocket Raccoon, Thor, and most recently, Groot, all of which draw inspiration from their live-action versions.
Over the last weekend, as a dedicated Marvel Rivals gamer, I eagerly anticipated the daily announcements teased by executive producer Danny Koo on Discord, with Miller Ross’s tip-off. True to his word, these updates rolled in every day around midnight UTC. The three announcements that dropped over the weekend included the exciting news about Moon Knight joining Marvel Rivals, but a day ahead of schedule, we were treated to a sneak peek at a fresh new cosmetic for our Vanguard class hero, Peni Parker!
On November 9th, 2024, news broke on social media about the unique “VEN#m” costume for Peni Parker. This costume mirrors its comic book look from Edge of Spider-Geddon (2018) #2 and is making its way from the comics to the game just in time for its release. Lately, Peter Quill, also known as Star-Lord, has been the newest hero to receive a Rivals Assemble character promotion, and his exclusive launch skin will be available for Star-Lord too.
Just like Rocket Raccoon and Groot from the Guardians of the Galaxy team, the unique Star-Lord skin is modeled after his live-action portrayal in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Fans who have seen Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 in theaters or on Disney+ will be familiar with this cosmetic as it mirrors the suit worn by the character in that movie, which was released in 2023. Rest assured, this isn’t a trick!
To recap, both skins will become accessible to all gamers upon the launch of Marvel Rivals, a free-to-play game scheduled for console and PC release on December 6th, 2024. At this time, we don’t have details on how you can obtain these skins; rest assured, we’ll share more information as soon as it becomes available.
