As a film enthusiast who has been following Marvel’s cinematic universe for years, I cannot hide my excitement upon seeing Pedro Pascal‘s Instagram post announcing the assembly of the “Fantastic Four” cast. The image of the core four superheroes together, with their distinctive personas and expressions, filled me with a sense of nostalgia and anticipation.
The core members of Marvel’s “Fantastic Four” have come together for the filming of this comic book franchise, as confirmed by Pedro Pascal on Instagram with the caption “Our first mission as a team.” It is not surprising that Marvel intends to make several films with this cast.)
Under the guidance of “WandaVision” director Matt Shakman, the upcoming “Fantastic Four” film will feature Pascal portraying Reed Richards (also known as Mr. Fantastic), Vanessa Kirby bringing Sue Storm (or the Invisible Woman) to life, Joseph Quinn taking on the role of Johnny Storm (the Human Torch), and Ebon Moss-Bachrach interpreting Ben Grimm (the Thing). The ensemble also includes Ralph Ineson, Paul Walter Hauser, Natasha Lyonne, and Julia Garner in supporting parts.
The production of “The Fantastic Four” movie was planned to begin in London towards the end of July. This project has a screenplay written by Josh Friedman, Jeff Kaplan, and Ian Springer. Although the storyline is still undisclosed, Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige shared on “The Official Marvel Podcast” last month that the film would be a 1960s-themed production set in New York City.
“During that time, Feige mentioned another artwork unveiled with Johnny Storm hovering above it, forming a 4-shaped symbol. The image also contained a cityscape in its corner. Many sharp observers noticed the discrepancies between this cityscape and the known New York or the ’60s New York in our universe. Their observations were indeed astute.”
In June, Joseph Quinn gave multiple interviews to promote his part in “A Quiet Place: Day One.” During these interviews, he mentioned to various media outlets that the four “Fantastic” actors hadn’t met up yet. He explained to Entertainment Weekly that when it comes to the Fantastic Four story, “We really want to get this adaptation just right.”
“Quinn spoke intriguingly about certain parts of the script that distinguish it from other Marvel films. These aspects drew her in strongly. Moreover, she praised the director, Matt Shakman, whom she considers brilliant, as well as the exceptional cast and the outstanding script.”
“Superhero films are more than just action and special effects,” he explained. “They’re stories about people that capture our emotions and keep us engaged. When we care about the characters and their struggles, we become fully invested in the movie experience. We’re not holding back; we’re committed to enjoying every moment of it.”
“The Fantastic Four” is set for release in theaters on July 25, 2025.
